Been using NEXTS for past year and new GS came with Anakees. Touring in Greece right now and bike is slipping on leans into bends and this never happened with Tourance Nexts. Any one else experiencing grip issues with Anakees? Tyre pressure is as per manual and wondering should I soften them up.

Just got back from Greece a week ago. Nothing wrong with tire. Roads there are made of marble chippings that wear into a very shiny and slipery surface. There is traction out of the turn and braking before the cornet but in it you are the next Stoner! Tires do not generate any heat. My advice is to lower the pressures a little to widen your contact patch and forget that you will be having a go at those twisties. Gently as it goes!

I'm mid-tour riding a 1400 mile circuit through France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany, and I'm on a set of Anakee 3s which have about 2500 miles of wear. The tyres are performing faultlessly in wet and dry. I've had one minor slip on a corner that was polished smooth, but then so did riders on Battleax's and Tourance Nexts.

They are on a par with the Nexts that the bike originally came with and are wearing better.

My only criticism is that the front tyre is noisy compared with the Nexts.

Had the same problem with Anikees, particularly the front. When the rear needed changed (4.5k mls.) I bit the bullet and got a pair of Tourance next. Couldn't obtain a rear Anikee even if I wanted one!.

every now and then a thread comes along and i think... Im glad someone said that...

my new bike is shod with AnK III on last one it had TOur Next and by comparison.. ANk III noisy and I will agree if you ride spirited you do notice a shift/creeping in the tyre at a little over 3/4 lean angle

its a little disconcerting although if you lean a little further it does go away... I concluded that it is where the bike sits on the more open tread pattern of the tyres and the bike momentum/force of the cornering pushes the bike sideways..

Im not talking leaving dark lines around a bend of course... only little brown ones ocassionally..:thumb

I will switch to something else... see my New Thread as to where Im thinking..:thumb2

Yes ...the front"s a bitch .... Took it down to 1.9 bar and see if that helps.

Ditto.... Also noisy as hell compared to NEXTs. Wear on NEXTS is crap but who cares if the grip is better.

Have a new set on my 2010 GSA. Have found them to be as good or better than 2s and NEXTS. Many Greek roads, if not most have limestone dressed Tarmac which when polished by traffic (especially in towns or bends) is like marble. Easy on the right hand when cranked over or you might find the back wheel beside you. A fairer assessment of the tyres is how did/do you find them on French or Italian Roads.

That being said, I find the A3s hopeless on the unmade tracks in Crete so will not buy them again.

Enjoy Greece

Cant say ive had any issues with them, at all. Just done 1900 miles in a week inc loads of twisties including the futa pass. Bike now on 2900 miles and starting to square off, the back has about 3-4mm central, think they will be shot by 4k miles (im travelling back from dijon area tomorrow) and ive been taking it easy mostly. Expected a bit more wear out of them.

Would happily go for the same again.

I cant get them to wear to the edges though.
