Can anyone tell me a cheap way to convert analog movies from an old style camcorder to digital?

Buy a digital camera with an analogue in port - they probably have the best analogue to digital hardware available.

Or if you have generous friends borrow one!

You should be able to use the camera in a pass through mode so that you record the video straight onto the computer rather than record onto tape than transfer to computer!

The other thing to check, is that you have a firewire port on the computer, if you havn't a firewire card is £15 or so...

If you're not going to change the content, buy a DVD recorder with and analog input and recorder straight to disc.
If you want to edit the content, record to DVD, then instal on your PC Pinnacle Studio 10 Plus which can capture from DVD.
