It really needs the Financial Services Ombudsman to liaise with the local Police Service in which they operate to carry out a major fraud investigation on 4th Dimension regarding their business practices including removing components from customers bikes to repair other vehicles (or writing off repairable bikes to get the parts from the breakers side of their business), exorbitant bike hire and storage charges , their practice of starting work and then returning bikes into storage to rack up the fees , their claims of parts non availability to again increase storage fees . Also claims of parts having been replaced that are the originals from the bike , tried to claim in a case that I have heard of that they replaced a bikes subframe yet the Datatag chip was still epoxyed inside the frame tube . (when questioned they claimed they had removed it from the original frame and put it in the used one they acquired to carry out the repair ). F.R.O.Naively, I never questioned Hastings passing me over to 4th Dimension to handle my claim after my GS was stolen and recovered. The handlers I dealt with were fine - easy to talk to, and kept me updated with progress. The downside was it took them FOUR MONTHS to repair the bike, and at a cost of nearly £8k! The bike was a runner when they collected it but most of the electric modules had been nicked or damaged, plus collateral damage (broken seats, steering lock, damage to paintwork). I spoke with a couple of local workshops subsequently (including BMW Motorrad), and neither thought it should take more than a couple of months based on 4thD estimate. I have now started the formal complaint process with Hastings, but I don’t hold out much hope for any compensation. My advice: whatever you do, choose your own workshop and avoid any agents or claims handlers.
Cannot understand why the Insurance companies themselves who are paying out the claims (not the brokers ) are not getting extremely f*cked off with the massively hyped up bills being submitted by 4th Dimension
