Andes & Altiplano tour

It was just over an hour from Lima to Arequipa and I took the opportunity to get the taste buds used to the local beer.

With some cracking views of the Andes above the clouds in the early evening sun.

On arrival at the hotel I met a few of my travel companions and we went into town for a bite to eat and early to the bed.

It is now just gone 8am Sunday morning and after breakfast I think we'll take a look around Arequipa which is supposedly one of the nicest cities in Peru.
We have a team meeting at 4pm this afternoon then out for dinner and set off in earnest tomorrow morning.

I do remember the Cusquena beer when I used to visit regularly👍👍
Food is good in Peru. Beware of the water, enjoy a Pisco sour. Best are from Peru but my Missus thinks otherwise, and stay away from the Inca Cola…. Vile stuff, sweet and made from Lemongrass and looks like liquid nuclear waste🤣🤣🤣🤣
You’ll understand when you see it

Going to be a blast 👍👍👍

And no, I didn't try it.

Arequipa is a very beautiful town and there's a lovely laid back kind of vibe about the place.

There has been a big festival going on this past few days and there are lots of people out and about.

Low twenties in the afternoon and being looked over by snow capped mountains.

We're just back from a group dinner which was absolutely amazing. This was a Caesar salad one of the ladies had.

I had a T-bone of pork which was served on a hot stone and it was very succulent.

Our tour leader Geert had a three meat mixed grill. There were a few choices but he went with chicken at the bottom, beef in the middle and alpaca at the top.

We hit the road at 7.30 in the morning. I'll admit to being a bit excited to finally get going.

food in Peru is amazing as I recall! I think the ''worlds best restaurant'' in 2025 was in Lime Peru. The Maido.
Lots of traditional Andean and old Inca flavours and their Cervice is amazing.....
Look forward to loads more pics....thanks

When we lived in Chile the food was crap.....so was the Pisco Sour which the Chileans claim to be their national drink.....what a load of bollox...Pisco is a town in Peru and their Pisco Sours are 100% better. I always get into a big fight with the Missus who is Chilean on this one....
Enjoy a few when you're there but just beware..they taste lovely and innocent enough and after a few you might need to remember where you put your legs..... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
