Andys industrial, bodge up, Heath Robinson R100GS

I've been racking my brain a bit, trying to think of a rear end for my 100gs project / bodge up.

I think the look I want is industrial / adaptable, so with that in mind chequer plate also comes to mind, I've looked at acerbis mudguards, ufo mudguards, nothing is really making an impact on the sand between me ears.

I've attached a poor Photoshop mash-up, a kinda finished / near job, bar indicators, exhaust, better shaped rack. the rack would be bolted to the chequer, maybe welded to SF, the chequer bolted to the sub frame. Nice light and number plate bracket on the end.

Exhaust, I've got a gsxr 1000 pipe, just needs a link pipe????? - got a welder mate .

Anyone have any thoughts? I guess "NO, don't do it" would be a reaction, but this is my creation (so why ask) and all the original bits are there for return, bar the hacking off the end of the sub frame. I guess I'm looking for input by people who have done this before / engineering issues / clever construction ideas.

By the way the bikes not red, Photoshop job.

Aluminium chequer plate could work but for continuity it would be good to add some to the front too - cockpit, dash, sump guard etc. Can you weld ally? If you want full on industrial corten steel with lots of rivets would be worth a look.

Chequer plate is good on Land Rovers ( although even that is debatable to some )...love the clean lines of the back end....but something ( for e.g. maybe carbon wrap over an alloy fabricated mudguard ) more stylish would be better in the long run !

Well I woke up in the night, the dog was poking me in the back with her claws. I got to thinking, the chequer would probably be lower than a plastic guard and may cause tyre rubbing issues (not that it'll be going proper off road) also stones being ripped up might make a noisy journey. So I'm still in thought mode.

I like the idea of adding elsewhere to balance it and I do need a headlight plate, also the ideal to use flat alley and carbon wrap it, I also like a UFO scout for £33.50.

Another day of head scratching awaits.

Put an old school chromed rear mudguard on it and a rack with side frames for soft luggage.

I would go for the rear fender from ufo the rear light works ok and for uk use thier ok not to fat looking as the acerbis one I have a spare light mask masck thier with a holder plate to use a if your interested ! You can allso get a tidy Lcd lighting kluster from touratech they cost only 55 euro but if it has a round adapter then get one from Q-tech bechause their you can buy the socket to fit that for extra 5 euro I have bouthe types of them wired up so I can help you their if you wonted to go down that road !!!

I don't think I've ever seen a bike that's used chequer plate for anything other than a small top box that's looked any good.

I do like the motoren Israel bikes. They use the UFO scout mudguards. One of the problems with the paralever bikes is they are a mix of old and new(ish) tech. They look odd if you pull them too far one way or another.
