What a good turn out we had at the Ace Cafe today. All the usuall good banter going on, & nice to see Shrek2(Rob) again all the way up from Eastbourne. Best of all a rideout was organised, so giving me a proper opportunity to chat to Rob etc later. It was aggreed that the drop off system was to be employed & I offerd to be tail end Charlie & i would have my spots lit for identification. Off we set & on leaving the main road nobody was dropped off. We then enter the huge Hanger Lane roudabout full of deaf, dumb, blind car drivers & nobody is dropped off at an exit point, but instead we for some reason start a second circumnavigation. A set of lights turn red & 3 bikes in front of me run em. I hate roundabouts at the moment & decide to stop, knowing full well that the bloke at the front (?) must by now have the common savvy to drop someone off. Wrong. Silly me for thinking that. In future if someone in this fantastic club organises a rideout employing the foolproof drop off system, then bloody well employ it, then the sucker who is tail end Charlie can have a good chat & a laff with his mates instead of going home & typing this.

Sorry Uncle Albert

Many apologies for my navigational cock-up :blush :(

I've learnt a few things today...

1. Don't forget to look at the road signs in case the GPSR isn't quite quick enough at complicated roundabouts.
2. Find out a bit more about how the drop-off system works when you are leading.
3. Don't always believe the GPSR - you can't always go down the roads it wants you to go down.

Sorry we lost you Peter, it seemed to every man for himself at Hanger Lane, bikes darting inside / outside, wrong way etc..

Anyway we contiued on, inside / outside, wrong way etc, few bikes on their side, and all got piss wet.

Great to see everyone, and cheers for the coffee Clive.

Catch you later.

Sorry Uncle Albert

Try putting a "Tracker" on the lead MC'er next time :D

Bob

Pit Stop at the Swan, Thame

Thanks for the coffee, "navigation", ride into the farmyard/field - down the non-existent road (demolished in 1855 but still in your GPS !!) and back out again, and the lead to the M4.

Sod the weather it was nice to be out - and meet some new faces. Thanks to the couple of dozen guys and gals for turning up :)

Highly odd - just checked MapSource also and it has it as a valid route

but Ordnance Survey shows it as a road as far as the farm and then a bridleway.

Never mind - remind me not to lead an impromptu ride-out again, while trying to find some vaguely interesting roads :)

Albert, we went around hanger lane twice for you.

Clives GPS couldn't find the A40 turn off .

then couldn't find the 200 year old road .

then couldn't find the M40

then missed the M25 .

Bob was his usual consistant self - off, road, mud, lying down .

:D :D

What a handsome young man. Is he one of those metrosexuals ?

Great to see you all this morning, only sorry I could not make the ride out. Only just been allowed out of the DIY black hole of our back bedroom. Shame about all the Hornets buzzing around

Clive, I know you're getting thoroughly deserved jip but thanks for leading the rideout yesterday. Very enjoyable and my first time off road. The photo seems to have captured Darkhorse making the w@nker sign at you! A bit harsh.

Good to meet some of the tossers and wierd to find out that Darkhorse lives about half a mile from me. Better lock up my daughter, wife and mum.
