Annoying rattle.

My 2011 r1200 GSA developed an annoying rattle on the right hand side which only lasted a second or so while accelerating under load. I assumed it was some kind of fuelling issue and faffed about with throttle body syncs, spark plugs, injectors and those bloody clips on the throttle body hoses, none of which made any difference. I eventually found out by chance that the fog light had swivelled down and the back of the fog light casing was rattling off the crash bar when I cracked the throttle open. Could have saved myself a lot of angst by checking the obvious first. .

Seriously? that's not obvious.

Mine developed a horrible knock like the sump was empty. I topped up the oil more in hope than expectation and noticed the RHS engine crash bar was loose. Whipped off the bar (it's useless anyway) and noise all gone.

I now have a squeaky rattle which I hope isn't the alternator. Tank off tomorrow to look for a hidden mouse.
