Anodiser + possible Carbon panniers

Having struggled around to get me ally panniers anodised I finally found Tony and Colour Anodisers in Holmfirth. Just got them back, nice job.
He mentioned he was toying with the option of making some carbon fibre (or carbon kelvar mix) panniers.
GS1200 only, in buy and bolt on form.
If you are interested in discussing this possibility (and I'm sure some might be) give him a call. Same too if you need anodising doing. Mention you saw it on this site.

You'll be lucky,anodising is a treatment for Aluminium only (I think)

What was the cost, and did you have them just anodised or hard anodised? I seem to recall speaking to the Metal Mule people at the HU meeting this year and they had problems getting a satisfactory finish with hard anodising.

Yep, I know, I was refering to my Ali ADV top box.

You'll be lucky,anodising is a treatment for Aluminium only (I think)

Paul, nope just anodised. My pannier are a bit large, but they managed to do them, standard hepco boxes etc would be easier. £170 but it costs what it costs. (two boxes and lids and few odds and sods for mounting.
Tony says you wll struggle to find anyone in UK to do Hard Anodising as its very costly in comaparison, and unecessary except in aeronautics and like, not worth it for our needs. Will post some pics at some point, Fritz

Give him a call. But can only anodise aluminium, no taps etc, or magnesium - it melts to nothing........and it has happened

It weld has silicon in it won't anodise the same, all material needs to be same. Had to mod our lids, and the guy used ordinary rods and weld is black whereas Vern's top job welding if pefectly matched in colour.

Tony knows his stuff so can put you right.

No-one fancying Carbon panniers then ?
