Well these are some pictures I took on Sunday 18th May...

A fellow tosser came down to Brighton to see me involved in another passion of mine...Minis....it was the London to Brighton Mini run.......

Well he came with his 2005 1200GS- and after a great day his bike would not start........

As you can see from the photos.........he was assisted by a fellow 'AA tosser' on a vintage 800RT AA bike.....but to no avail.........

2 hours later a RAC man came along....... One and a half hours later.......not a clue............

Send the flat bed to take tosser home..........another two hour wait..........

Tosser gets home at 11pm..........and he still needs to phone in the morning to be taken to his dealership........

:blast:blast:blast

Cool photos though as another AA man rode past following an old AA Mini van...and a cool vintage AA bike...

So what was the problem then? One of the usual suspects - EWS, battery or fuel pump relay:nenau

Problem not solved or certainly no feedback from the dealership so far......

I'll keep you all posted........

AA yellow is not a good colour for a GS.....

Of course there is no news yet, it's only Wednesday. They might have an idea in a weeks time. Mines 15 days and counting

Flat Battery?

Hi Captain

I was interested on the outcome on this breakdown as I was the AA Patrol that attended. Was the final outcome just a new battery?
If you have the dealers name I would be very interested in finding out more?

Like the photos.

Cheers

AA & RAC, 3 1/2 hrs and it was a flat battery?
Obviously I don't know what the symptoms were, but didn't thunderbird 1 or 2check the battery or try a jump start?
Not slagging either rescue service but sounds more than just a battery.

I'm liking the vintage AA bike very cool

Noel and I and most of the tossers on this forum here agree.......

The dealership after a day or so said it was a spent battery- sounds unlikely but that's all they changed and charged for- Noel is on Holiday at the moment, but he did ask the dealership to check everything else but they came back with just the battery at fault.......maybe BMW have told dealerships to conceal the true reasons why bikes fail.....:nenau......conspiracy theory or what?

Yes the vintage AA bike was well cool- it comes out on special occasions I was told by Sean the AA man.....:clap

STOP PRESS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

sirfixalot........

I've just been told by Noel that it was the BMW Battersea dealership that said it was just a bad battery.....

flat battery

Thanks for the info. As you know I gave it a good jump start but it was not firing up. I am sure the RAC did the same. Sorry it was such a late home time for Noel.

I am guessing that the disconnection & reconnection of the battery may have reset the canbus system. I have doen some searching and their appears to be one or two people that have suffered a similier problem. Interesting that a healthy jump start does result in a restart.

All the best hope to be more succesful next time.

I had a flat bed experience last weekend.
Stopped for a drink but the bike would not start when ready to go! We tried jump starting (after running the battery low). Still no joy. Turns out it was the dreaded fuel pump controller. Still waiting for parts!

Ho Hum.
