sorry if this has been asked a hundred times before:o

ive got a 2000 GS and ive stripped and rebuilt the front calipers. before i took the calipers off i clamped the hose to stop the fluid from running out.

now ive bled the two front calipers and bled the (i think) servo ABS under the tank . ive run the best part of a ltr of fluid through the system and even tried a mitivac , but it still fells spongy at the lever.

ive tried a search but the only thing i can find relates to later bikes with what looks like a different (i think) servo ABS system under the tank:confused:

HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLP !!! I CANNA TAKE NOMORE:spitfire

its the only thing stopping me from refitting the bike back together (new paint job and lots of powder coating etc)

bloody hell i need to get out for a ride:cool:

Oy Chad

I`m still slightly compus mentis (or is it compost mentis )

I thought I sent a few tips via XRV.ORG ??

Try getting some line pressure up and bleeding the master cylinder via the banjo bolt.

Try each line by means of this method :thumb

Tie the brake lever back overnight with the handlebars turned so the reserviours at the highest point .

thanks for coming back so quick guys:)

I dont know how much help this is, but...

I used to have a ZZR1100, and I had a b*tch of a time bleeding the front brakes, it never seemed to matter what I did or what I replaced, they always felt spongy. No servo and no ABS, so probably no help, but one of the things I did notice with that is that I'd get lots of tiny really tiny bubbles popping back up from the master cylinder, but I'd never see these coming out of the caliper.

Two things I did was one, as Steptoe suggested and you've done is to tie the front brake (this would show a little improvement) the other was flex the brake lever (not a full pump) to try and draw these tiny bubbles back up. Lots of time and effort and to be honest it never really products a great result, it all worked, it just felt spongy...

I'm sure you've checked, but there's nothing loose or flexing is there? I spent ages bleeding a ZZR600 only to realise one of the front disks was slightly warped :(

This is going to sound stupid, but the best thing I did with the ZZR1100 was to leave it alone... I can't explain why, but I pulled it out of the garage after a couple of weeks and the brakes where just fine.

All that said, these guys know more about the BMW than I do. :nenau

Hi Chad.I'm not sure if it makes any difference to the bleeding job,but there's no crappy servos on the Y2K bikes.:thumb
