Just been to see one of the bikes advertised on the site and left a deposit for it. Hopefully pick it up on Tues or Weds.
Only thing I think it requires are engine bars. what sort of price am I looking at for the various types available?

Cheers Baz

Engine Bars

Hi Baz, Hepco and Becker bars will set you back about 110 quid from Moto Bins, youll see lots of threads about different types. I'm happy with these......

Hi all, now an official convert,
Just picked 1150 up ( cheers Silver Shadow) and ridden it home which is the furthest I've been on one (70 Miles). First impressions:

Buffeting not as bad as bad I remember, although wind noise still oppressive (with ear plugs & Schubert S1). New screen or Tobinators?

Vibes not as bad as I expected, could actually see through mirrors.

Headlights crap, even with spots switched on no where near my VFRs standard.

All in all I adapted to it very easily, no issues with indicators etc.

Immediate Mods, crash Bars & baglux.

Looking forward to taking it to the Alps in June, or shall I take the VFR?

Must pay my £10

Tobinators will lose just about all the problems, and it's nice being able to adjust the screen so easily when you're out and about:D If not enough, Cee Baileys do some BIG screens that will be!

The vibes are weird, I get them about 20 mins from my home, always on a certain section of highway, change my grip, flex my fingers and I don't get them again for the rest of the day:confused:

Please don't mention the 'king lights to me, I often back off and let Blackbird (VFR before) riding mate take the lead in the dark:shoot:

Exactly the right mods to start with, don't forget you can get the H&B bars in silver as well as black:cool: and make sure you tell Baglux what size tank you have (22l/30l):)

Why Ask:rolleyes:

Yes you must:beerjug:

After clocking up a couple of hundred miles this weekend, I'm still not convinced its any more comfy than the VFR, but I will persevere. I moved the screen to the llowest position which is an improvement, now able to cruise comfortably at 90.

I must remember though that when I stall it at a busy juction in town that pressing the right indicator will not restart it:o

On a more serious note, the finish on the bike is not up to the standard of the VFR. Mine is 3 1/2 years old, ridden all year round and the finish is as good as if not better than the Beemer. It just doesnt seem to beable to cope with the salt as well, and takes twice as long to clean, any comments?

Welcome to the land of the strange Baz!!
Have to agree with your findings as i'm somewhat of a recent convert myself. For the lights try Phillips 50s (h7s if i remember right). They improve things no end, still not as good as vfr lamps mind. The build/ finish issue is a bit of a disappointment as bmw have an undeserved rep imho. Frankly honda are leagues ahead again. On the plus side the bm is a piece of piss to work on and does make you laugh which is why we all ride bikes after all. Happy trails mate!!:D
