Any real difference between Sena and cardo. Built in comms for possible new shoie helmet and can they talk to one another.

Any real difference?
Can they talk to one another?
Good voice activation is a + as with a trike you do need to have hands on the bars more than on a bike
Thanks. Charles

I am hugely biased , because I am a big Cardo fanboy . Struggled hugely and abandoned attempts to pair with Cardo with Sena SC2
If bike to bike is your wish , start by asking your riding mates what they use . These brands do not mix at all well .

Couple of weeks back, 5 lads on a trip to Scotland.
4 Sena (one of which, mine is a Schuberth) and 1 Cardo -
All weekend we tried and fucked about with Bluetooth and Mesh and settings and pairings.
Became comical blokes sat in the Airbnb lounge after a skinful at night, with helmets on, saying “can you hear me now?
🤦🤣

Not once did we ever manage to get us ALL able to talk to each other.
And the poor bloke on the Cardo was basically billy no mates the whole weekend. Could never pair it to more than one other.

I support what JohnnyBravo describes . It’s not the Cardo that’s at fault though ; our Cardo’s communicate in a group of seven , faultlessly and drop in and out without issue , reconnecting automatically . The issue is that you need to be in the same brand or you will be ‘Billy no mates ‘

We just ring each other if we have something to say.

We replaced our ageing Sena units about 3 year ago for a trip where my niece and her partner who were going with us already had Cardo units , Previously when i had the Sena SMH10 I've done a fair bit of touring and day rides with a mate and my brother in law who also had Sena units and never had any issues .
On the trip with my niece we had constant issues on bike to bike (3 bikes ) with interference and bad signals and I have also had issues with comms from my Cardo and my wife's Cardo (riding pilliion) yet once home my brother in law got a newer Sena unit and it paired with my Cardo with absolutely no issues with a crystal clear signal even at distance .

NeilW; which Cardo units were you using ?

I have the Sena SRL2 and have always had issues pairing with Cardo bikermates until a recent Firmware update not only doubled my battery life but allowed me to pair with Cardos first time. A big improvement. On another note, I like that the Pac Talk Cardos can be charged whilst in use, unlike mine.

There are a couple of apps around now that can link helmets using data. We've used 'Wave' but we were in a very remote area and it was patchy. It can only improve.

I would rather not have to listen to other people wittering while I am riding. No coms for us. We have our own way of communicating. Tap on the right shoulder, turn right. Tap on the left shoulder, turn left. Thump in the back, slow down.

I've got the new sena 60,s arriving tomorrow,

Will be interesting to see how it performs

I have it's previous incarnation - the 50c and I'm very happy with it.

As long as bikermates have their helmet microphones close to their lips all is well (y)

Looks like it’s Sena, as that’s what my friends have…..many thanks

Bit dangerous that, your mate coming up alongside and having to tap you on the shoulder. :D

I only ever paired Bluetooth helmet comms once with my mate Rob, between M3 Winchester services and Ashford Le Tunnel, and I instantly regretted it.

His Vox setting triggered his microphone at low speeds from wind noise and the whole journey was just the noise of him coughing and snorting in his crash helmet…..Two fucking hours of it !

That was why I changed from Sena to Cardo, I found the Cardo was much better at cutting out wind noise from other riders irrespective of their type of helmet or vox setting!

With the Cardo Packtalk, if you use DMC/Mesh, the intercom is always live but you can just say “ Hey Cardo , mute/unmute microphone “.
This is what the three of us did on recent trip

Best to disable the Vox Intercom in the settings and just use the jog dial to start and stop a conversation - it's just a quick tap. (y)

I think his wasn’t Sena comms like mine, either way I have no desire to repeat the experience again.
