On a bike... somewhere!
I'm off to Morocco in a few weeks - smugness aside :blast

Unfortunately or fortunately I've gotta so a lot of on road miles to cover to get there.

What's my best compromise tyre of choice?

Any thoughts from those that have one it would be appreciated :thumb

+1 for Heidenau K60 - the tyre of choice for the Adventure bike rider.

I went to Morocco late May this year and did loads of tracks in the Atlas. Still got plenty of life in the tyres and there was a couple of days on the return through Spain when it pissed down with rain with no problem. TKC80's while good, will wear out real quick and you'll be lucky to get much more than 4000 miles on the rear tyre.

Depends how you ride, speed creates heat which is the enemy that causes rapid tyre wear.

I did France - Spain - Morocco - Western Sahara - Mauritania - Senegal and back on a single set of TKC80s.

Nowadays with Bib mousses and Michelin Deserts I try to keep below 105 kph to keep the knobblies fresh for the tracks and prevent the mousses breaking up.

Thanks for the input - I'm thinking the TKC 80's alright - The 70's look more road orientated, as do the K60. I've tried the wilds on a r12gs and really liked them but they don't do a 90/90/21 yet for the front.

I was thinking of using a Wild rear and a TKC 80 front as I believe the wilds are harder wearing than the TKC 80's

K60. Used a pair for my Morocco trip and they were perfect. Even did for my blast back through all of France in one day! 11000 miles out of a set, so they last well too.

Oh 100 pc K60 Scouts

Fab on road and with new tread pattern not noisy.

Grip well on road and trail.

Used on 1200 GS 660 ten and 800GS.

I'll not buy anything else.

Done over 5000 miles on mine Blue sweeper including Morocco and just changed them for another pair with 3mm left on the back and 4mm on the front. :)
