I have searched but have not found out any answers.

I have a 2008 GS, and have had the 2 bearings replaced on the crown wheel due to play - found out at the MOT.

Looking on part lists the old part number for the large deep grooved ball bearing race was 33117704850 which has been superseded by 33117720235.

The 09 / 10 has a part number has 33117720235.

Does this mean that there has been a significant change to the FD bearing or is it just a different bearing supplier?

Do you have the old bearings? post a picture. It would take a fair bit to wear the big bearings and the main one is caged in its own lube.

The complete story is a joke of course, because all those bearings are typical:

6013-2RS (Deep groove ball bearings), C3 type.

The only reason, I guess, P/N changed is because the initial supplier probable changed.
