another great idea

The project stalled after my last post absolutely zero progress .. but today I went shopping

New tires.

The much encouraged replacement brake lines.
New clutch bleed pipe.... (shame I have to fit the subframe to fit it)
New fork seals and oil... that should keep me busy

Those rims look stunning! Have you decided on a colour for the bike yet?

Mandarin.....Mandaaariiiin.... ;)

I wish I could take credit for the rims all I did was de spoke them .. and pay😲.. My heart says mandarin. . My head says graphitan. . If for no other reason than I have already bought the viny letters graphitan (having previously bought the one to suit the original silver) and I am hoping a mate of mine is going to paint the bits in work , his boss is far more likely to spot big yellow bits hanging around than graphite 😉..

No real progress still unwrapping things and fitting when I work out where they fit 😞

The engine bars tool some head scratching

And the little tabs I welded on to mount the lights aren't quite at the right angle but considering I only decided to do it after dismantling they are not too bad. //uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161102

What have I done ... I'm jealous of the pleasure you are getting from your project... and your skills/knowledge too.

Just a pic of a great colour scheme ( IMHO) that was listed in the "for sale" section ; Any help ?

thanks Stuart If my garage was just a bit bigger I might consider a more "involved" paint job but as you can see from the background my garage is cramped I cant spray in there with the bike so... progressed and I urgently need it out of there as I have some welding jobs to do(with a deadline) so its time to reel my ambitions in and put this project to bed..or now its mobile (ish) wrap it up and move it into the shed and finish it at a later date....

Glad to hear you're doing the brake hoses. As for the lights, could you make up a wedge shaped washer to straighten them up? Looking forward to seeing the finished bike.
I've just spent the day giving my 850 a service and have done my front hoses now too. Mines not been started since about May, yet she started first time straight away. She's not a bad old bus:bounce1
Out on her tomorrow:clap

Great minds

Where did you get your wheels done ?

I had them done with "FMX" a Google search will find them. Or I can dig out an invoice. . But I am trying not to remember what I am spending on this project 😓

I am at the stage where progress seems to have stopped. . Never mind how much I spend on stainless bolts I never have the size I need tonight I am on a mission to clean the belly pan..and maybe work out how to re fit it I wish I had taken more pictures! I also have aquired a much more heavy duty one which may have come from and "adventure " I am tempted to fit that one

The bolt holes are straight forward. .I haven't worked out how the smaller one works in conjunction with the bigger outer one 😕

engine protection bars?
think they might be upside down.....
The tab that is next to the bash plate, that goes on the bolt that holds one the braces on for the fwd frame under the tank

Hia I have been banned from going into the garage tonight. . So I haven't tested your theory about the engine bars.. but I am confident (or was)they are in the proper orientation. . All holes lined up and the brace under the engine fits fine and the angles work.. I have a suspicion that some spacers/bushes for the belly pan disolved 😲 in my acid bath.. I will work it out. .

I am still struggling with the bashplate arrangement I think the inner one mounts like this

d1950d6729f07b9a36155a9ce68408ad.jpg

On 4 rubber mounts (probably without the nuts)
and I think this spacer is correctly used

in the front left position.
Now the outer cover has spacers with holes suggesting bigger thread than the 6mm on the bobbins

Also found these

can anyone tell me if these are the missing link!? Obviously one of them is beyond use due to a me forgetting it was in an acid bath 😐

Thanks. . I can't have a proper look on my phone but I will look later..I did look on the "oem" part finder last night which gave me a good idea. I have a suspicion mine is complicated by the engine bars "piggy backing" on the front mounts. . I have decided that need to make some special bolts. I also decided to concentrate on other things . I intend flushing the engine and changing the oil before use sk I would only have to take it all off again anyway.
Last night I decided I needed a quick little morale boosting job and tackled the bowden cable set up.. it wasn't so quick and didn't boost moral but I am now an expert 😉
Tonight I am pondering electrics and what to do with this

what i did on mine a fair few years back was remove all that outer rubber cover on the whole section of loom
Then I wrapped it in spiral wrap and then in the opposite direction to the spiral wrap, black electrical tape to cover and dust / water proof it.
Pretty much did the whole bike

I used different diameter / size spiral wrap depending ont eh number of wires in that loom part rather than just bundle them all together.
Some loom sections I re-routed as it made better sense to me and also made sure there was plenty of slack at the head stem area

Dont know where you get spiral wrap from, i got mine else where
