Starts and runs fine upto 4000 revs then there's a misfire, it will pull to the redline but it's rough.
If you hold full throttle through the gears it does seem better but no right.

I have had the tank off:rolleyes: and it's now off again and the cables look fine to me.

So what do the collective think?

Plugs
coil pack
throttle bodies

I'm sure it could be any of the above but do the symptoms sound familiar:nenau

have you double checked the throttle cables by the injectors :thumb
ie where the cable meets, the outer sleeve can get caught.:thumb

Most probably one of the cylinder coils. They tend to wear out quite rapidly due to the exessive heat produced in the cylinder head.

Had the same problem a couple of weeks ago

Mort....pull one out (no tools needed, just lever the thing out with a FB screwdriver :)) and there's a fair chance you might see the deterioration in it....the first few I had fail were swollen and the seam along the side had started splitting.

It's by no means conclusive, cos the next one I changed after that looked perfect, but if it's the black topped one and they've not been changed, there's a god chance it will be the problem.....the new ones (which have been out for a good 18 months if not longer) have a gray top part......

PSI pent an hour with a parts man in a decent garage and several hours on-line looking for the equivalent part number but from a car application....they're fairly bog standard items, coil packs, but I couldn't find a car that listed an equivalent (they'd probably be a lot cheaper than the BWM OEM version) :blast

If anyone ever finds out, FFS please post it up!!:thumb2

At £55 a pop I also went down that route with the same result as you, no luck.

Coil packs

Just had the same problem with mine! loss of pull at high rev's, it seems a common problem, I was just glad it was only 2 that had gone and not all 4 (twinspark) I have a bm warranty but with £100 excess:blast
So much for free parts, dealer did give me a 10% discount to ease my pain, bike running like a treat now:D

Thanks everyone for the advice, just had a 200 mile round trip (on the Honda:rolleyes:) and bought the coil packs.

Local dealer doesn't stock them:blast

I'll let you know how I get on:thumb2

FIXED:bounce1:bounce1

You would have thought sticky tape would have made a perfect repair (old one bodged):blast
At least I now have a spare:rolleyes:
