Hi all,

Been lurking for a short while, but finally decided to register and start posting.

If all goes according to plan, then as of Friday afternoon, I will be the new owner of this 2011 R1200RT SE.

I just hope the weather isn't too bad on Friday, as I need to ride for about an hour to get to the dealer's to drop off my 2004 Yamaha R6 in part-ex. Needs must, and these ol' bones ain't what they used to be, and I just can;t cope with the riding position of a Japanese crotch rocket any more :rob

However, my 2-hour test ride showed that I should have no such problems on the RT. :bounce1

The previous owner had spent quite a bit on it, so thankfully I only need to spend slightly less ;) . It has the comfort heated seats, top box, Nav IV mount, radio, and iPod lead to name a few farkles.

Of course, my garage workbench is already full of extra bits which will be bolted on once I take delivery. I think I need to buy shares in Wunderlich....

Jealous. The RT is a fantastic bike, made unbeatable by the addition of a Sargeant seat. :thumb

And welcome. :thumby:

Cracking Bike, don't think the seat is a Sargeant though. Is it not the BMW "Comfort Low Option" seat ?.

Yup, just the "normal" BMW comfort seat as far as I know.

16 hours and counting 'til I pick it up..... :D

Apologies for the confusion, it was more of a suggestion that the addition of a Sargent seat would ensure you had the ultimate riding machine.

No worries.

To be honest, when I had a 2-hour test ride on it I had no problems at all with the comfort, although I understand some people don;t get on with it and find it more uncomfortable than the stock seat.

A longer ride may be different, but things look OK so far. :thumb2

Welcome.

Bought my 2013 1200RT in May last year, and ran up 9000 miles during the summer.

Fabulous.

Hope you enjoy yours as much.

Recalling a ride back through France and England a few years back on a GS, how i wished for my RT!!! Its on a really miserable days you really appreciate how good the RT is!

Post up when you get back :thumb2

At last, I finally took delivery of the 1200RT today (I'll try to get some better pictures over the weekend), and I decided to take the scenic route back home from Rainbow. :D

And it looks like there'll be less money needed for farkles than I originally thought, as the previous owner went a bit mad with the extras;
- Large top box with back pad (On the floor in the photo)
- Factory fit audio system
- BMW alarm
- BMW comfort heated seat (Rider and passenger)
- Nav IV mount
- Front Fender extender
- "Crud catcher" protection plate
- Headlight protector
- iPod cable in the glovebox

Although there's still my workbench full of bits to add to it, too :augie

And this Sunday looks like it will be a nice day, so hopefully I'll be able to get out and try it out on a long ride :bounce1

Forecast tomorrow looks great, enjoy the new bike

Might be worthwhile asking if the bike was originally supplied with the Comfort seat. You never know, if not the previous owner just may have the stock seats and let you have them. Then if you don't get on with the Comfort seat you can always go back to standard. Worth a try ?.
Also it looks like you have the Stainless Exhaust Headers. Much better than (IMHO) the Chrome type. Far easier to keep looking tidy.

Four hours in the saddle this afternoon to get a decent first run out on the RT, and no aches and pains whatsoever :D

The main thing I noticed was that I need to recalibrate myself in relation to speeds.

Being sat behind a big screen, I found myself going 10-15mph faster than I thought I was going, due to the 'learned' perception of wind blast, etc from my old R6.

I found myself thinking "jeez, I'm dawdling down here and through these corners", when in fact when I looked at the speedo, I was not doing much less speed than I used to take them on the R6 !

Tried taking a shot of the bike with some Yorkshire countryside behind it at Holme Moss, but failed miserably due to the low cloud
