Another Numpty question!

Right having found the and downloaded the drivers to work the sound on my laptop and downloaded the bits to run the DVD player, when I put a DVD in it starts to play then comes up with the message

"Cannot play the DVD while the TV out is on"!!!!

WTF?

Sounds like your video card has "TV out" - which is a funny round wee connector at the back of your card/PC. If you look in the settings of the video card (usually you can get to this by the wee icon in the task tray), there should be a setting somewhere to select DVD output to your screen instead of TV out.

If no luck then you'll need to post your PC specifics - what PC, what video card, and what monitor & cable.

What it says is Error Code F4D41436 "The TV Out port of your displat card is mot working properly"

WHen I click on "details" it says "This copy protected disc cannot be played when the TV out function is enabled"

Sounds like it thinks you're trying to copy a disc.

I have no idea, not encountered this before, but if i were you, I'd try control panel, system, hardware, device manager- then look for the video card or dvd player and try and find something that matches up with your error messages.......then poke around in its settings and see if you can disable it.

hey guys,

need your help, cause I'm about to smash my friggin hardware in my computer. i don't know
since when, but recently I can't seem to playback dvd's on my pc using the powerdvd4.0 player.
when the main window opens, i get this:

"Error Code: F4D41436

The TV Out port of your display card is not working properly."

Ok, so I'm like why do they even care. When I press the Detailed button, I get this:



"This copy protected disc can not be played when the TV out function is enabled."

Looks like the kiddy!!!

There have been several postings over the past few months regarding this specific matter. The solution is to download and install the older NVidia driver(s)...


"The 41.09 and future drivers have more stringent checks in the driver to comply with the latest Macrovision requirements. If the TV encoder does not support Macrovision, you will get the "Macrovision Distribution Failed" error message or a similar message depending on which DVD software player you are using. The BT868 and Conexant CX25870 TV encoders do not support Macrovision. If your graphics card is equipped with one of these TV encoders, then it will not support DVD playback with our 41.09 drivers and above."

And thank heavens for computer geeks!

I followed the link and although people were reporting different error codes depending on what O/S they were running, there were loads of fixes. I tried to find one that was applicable (none were) so I downloaded something called AnyDVD from Slysoft. It allows you to run (as it says) any DVD no matter what region etc.

It seems from what those boffins on the link said that XP Sp2 (just loaded it today on my laptop) doesn't like some older DVD's!

It's all Greek to me!

Anyway, I stuck in my oldest DVD and bingo, played straight off!
