So I came out of work on Wednesday after an admittedly rather damp day and tried to fire the old girl up.
Turning over on the starter no trouble but not firing at all. :-(
Fuelled up the night before and running perfectly in the morning.
She's a '58 plate 1200 GS.
I use the bike every day covering 15 miles to work and back on fast flowing roads (mostly) and she's always started on the button.
Got recovered to the local garage for them to look at as no real mechanical skill and even less time to be able to diagnose the issue.
The bike was serviced in the summer and has done a trip round Ireland since then but really it's been a bit of a lemon since I brought it a couple of years ago, had the rear bearing fail at 12,000 then the rear shock sprang a leak at 16,000.

Now at 23,000 in it back in the garage. :-(

Love the idea of these bikes but out of love with mine. :-(

If it cranks but won't run it is most likely the fuel pump controller module. Many owners have suffered this, myself included, with the same symptoms. In my case I hot-wired the fuel pump to get the bike started and prove where the fault lay before I shelled out on a replacement part.

It might be the fuel isn't returning fast enough from the injectors so fuel is sitting on one side of the tank but can't be used. So check the fuel pump controller then check the pump is pumping. There was an FPC on sale the other day.

Well done guys, that's exactly what they're replacing.
Fingers crossed I'll get the bike back tomorrow.
