Just tried to update the maps on my Zumo 550:blast

I know it won't take all of Western Europe so I'd like to load UK & Ireland (as I have just done on my ancient Nuvi). However, when using Garmin Express it is only offering my Turkey or the Alps region on the drop-down menu. Not a lot of use!

Garmin support say it'll take 3 days for an answer (if I get one at all) so I thought I'd ask the collective wisdom on here - any thoughts, please?

p.s. I use a Mac not a PC if that makes a difference.

I'm having a similar issue. Garmin Express says not enough room, and only give me the option for Alps or Turkey. I downloaded the Alps just for fun. I then tried to do it through Mapinstaller. It goes through the whole rigmarole of downloading etc, then says there was an error. Garmin have made various suggestions. I've deleted the pairing, deleted the program, and started all over. No luck yet.

One thing I did notice though. My zumo is turning off during the process. I think there is a glitch in the system somewhere that's telling the sumo to turn off at quite a critical moment.

Back to the drawing board. Let me know if you have any success.

I also use a Mac.

Do it via Basecamp

You can download the entire map to your Mac, then use Basecamp, click on Maps at the top of the screen, scroll to Install Maps and then follow the instructions. As usual the whole process is more complicated than with Mapsource. As Mapsource won't work on a Mac you are stuck with Basecamp but it does eventually allow you to choose map tiles to download to your device.

Tried that. Opened Mapsource, clicked on Maps, but couldn't find 'install maps' option. Clicked on various bits in Mapsource, but didn't get anywhere.

However, I did try Mapinstaller one more time. Left it over night, and it seems to have worked this time.

If you use Mapsource just use the Map tool to select the map tiles you want then download to device as per downloading a route
