What are people using to top up,apart from the BM genuine stuff?
Dont wanna top up with the wrong gear n me engine turn to jelly....:blast

Why would you need to top up?
And if you did feel the need why wouldn't you use the genuine "stuff"

I used Silkolene Pro Cool when my K1600 needed a top up. Would use the same in my GS. :thumb2

Because the level is at minimum, the dealer is 55 miles away. And i dont wont me pants pullin down. Alright....

If price is the deciding factor use the cheapest then, alright.....;)

Seriously, how much is the recommended coolant is it that expensive?

You asked a stupid question...Why do you think i would enquire about anti-freeze. To water the plants ...
Anti-freeze/coolant at BM will be the usual.. that will be£££££ sir. Same stuff elswhere will be £.....;)
Thanks Tricky..is the silkolene available in Poundland/B+M's ?

Anti freeze

I would check if the bmw spec coolant is organic,
also using distilled water Is common now,

Antifreeze

Had a look the bmw stuff is a hybrid oat which is diluted with distilled water,
Not all organics mix,
I would put a drop of distilled water in against using a different product,
Bear in mind minimum when cold is not necessarily a problem, when warm it may reach max, the air space in the tank is needed,
I would run it up to fan cut in before topping up and see if it reaches max,
,roamer

But you don't know this, my point, if there is one is that the price of the BMW approved coolant may pleasantly surprise you, not everything is £££££

I have not needed to top up the coolant on my LC in just under 6k miles, in fact I cannot recall having to top up the coolant in any modern vehicle for a long time, if yours is losing coolant there may be an issue, it might be worth letting your 55 mile away dealer know if that's the case.

In my manual supplied with the bike it says (page 111 ) top up with coolant, it does not specify any brand or percentage of mix.
They say to put the bike on it's stand to check coolant level, is that side or main?

Think that'll be the main stand. great so we can top up with any coolant....Hybrid OAT...OAT....green containing silicates...blue ..red..pink..orange gear or whatever in the shed.

Bmw genuine engine coolant premixed 1ltr = £11.00.
The ingredients label shows it contains ethylene glycol but no other information.
And no i didnt purchase. Dealer says bring in the bike and i can have a free top up.
It'll cost me near £11 quid in motion lotion to get there.
