Anti rattle spring on rear caliper

Anti rattle spring that falls out from above the pads when you remove the rear pads...

Managed to bust one of the retaining clips off it when trying to re-assemble.

Question is does it need replacing or will the pads be fine without it?

I don't know but I might have one from a rear caliper ...umm... kit thingy that I bought... I'll go have a look if you like...though I don't htink the complete kit was expensive from bmw... my failing memory tells me something like a tenner...

I ran without on the rear for a while (yup, hamfisted, just the same) Does not affect the braking but now and again, it would squeal/high pitched sound, just before coming to a standstill.

Think its better if I get one fitted
