Guys

I am going to be doing some off roading and green laning on GS1200 from now on. I have changed tyres to Conti TKC 80s removed rubbers in foot pegs, loosed everything on handle bars like wing mirrors etc. Anything you can recommend to protect the bike?

is it a GS or a GSA?

what crash bars do you have on it?

what's it worth?

how much experience have you got?

What optional extras have you had fitted?

Fit engine bars and rocker cover guards. Take at least 2 mates to help pick it up when you drop it :blast.

Be prepared to replace the diff oil frequently.

Have sump guard and engine crash bars, just ordered mug slinger thing to protect rear shock.

Dropped it yesterday, suprise how easy it was to pick up.

GS not GSA

Worth less now that what I paid for! (thats for sure)

F##k all experience

Not sure which engine bars

buy a drz, cheaper and more fun in the long run

got to say +1 on this...

you can off road a GS, but its a damn sight easier learning on a pogo

As above though, crash bars, engine protectors, thing about fitting a snorkel, take some mates with you.

and a big protion of courage and determination... be prepared to drop it a lot, but dont let that put you off.

also see XR, CRF, WR, EXEC, XT, KLR, etc... there's a whole host of small pogo's out there 250 is plenty for green lanes, 450's nice, but you'll probably not use it all.

Brother has WR450 which he loves, I find it very odd to ride, feel very uncomfortable on it.

I've never quite figured out why anybody buys a 10-grand bike and does that to it - especially when a KTM-type bike costs half the money and does the job soooo much better.
