Hi All, Stevie Allen has asked if I can make some brackets for his Migsel bar so that it will fit his LC.

To be honest I`m really struggling, mostly with time as on Friday I have my big knee op and I will be bloody useless for several weeks thereafter.

I can only do this at night time because I took a week off last week to go to the Nurburg Ring (awesome place :bow) and my day job is demanding all my time.

So, if anyone can help please PM me or post a reply - I`ve already come up with a quick solution as per the images but it relies on the anchorage points being just 2 M6 fastening points................. it would be a quick solution but I`m not sure if its the best - what other anchorage points could I use without redesigning the Space Shuttle?

The brackets themselves are just mock ups to give me an idea of what it would look like.

Hi Mark,
If you whip the beak off you'll see where the lighting bracket fixes to.

I'll try to take some pics of my home made one.

Steve

Mark,Steve,
Thanks for your help in this lads
The migsel being a half decent piece of kit compared to what else is available for the toilet,, it seems a waste to not use it

thanks again for your input :thumb

I`d make my own bracket if I had the time....................:blast

Weld it to the forks, then you'd have lights that follow the road like they charge a fortune for on the K1600GTL :thumb

(sorry, not being very helpful am I :blast)

Now your thinking along the right lines,....... I likeeeee:D:augie
thought you ,d never ask
Yeah i know .... the knee...:blast
get in, get it done and get better quick

:pullface

And there's me getting all emotional because you are concerned about my op :D

it`s just like dealing with bloody Nuts :D

I presume you have already got a migsel bracket or do you want me to send you the one I have got? (on the assumption I finally get some fixing brackets made..............)

Just pm me tell me what i owe you .
The knee: if its what i think your getting done, the advances in the op nowadays , will have you up and about in no time :comfort:comfort:ChrisKelly:topic

Hi Steve,
If you remove your front beak you will see two hexagonal holes in the top of the frame at the side of the headlight these are the mounting points for the OE lights.

What I did was to a 4" bolt through these holes mount my home made lightbar to these bolts. On the side of the beak frame there are another two mounting points I simply shaped a couple of alloy brackets to fasten to these and the light bar to make it all ridged then simply fixed the lights to the bar.
Cost me less than £10 in total and looks great, although 90% is unseen.

Steve

PS the only tools I needed were, a hacksaw,drill,files,vice,and a 10mm spanner.

So we have a wise wrinkley owlie:D

yeah i found these holes and put some threaded stainless through them but the nuts ended up being 17mm :blast Then i was just going to line a couple holes in the light bar up and bolt through but it looked pants.
Some other company made a pants light bar as i mentioned to Mark
It would be enhaced by my threaded bar and 17mm it looked like such an after thought ,
But i wasnt going to pay what they wanted for it just to get there attachment and then use the migsel bar.
have you any pics available

We are having a technician flown onto the vessel today to hopefully fix our internet problem so if he is succesful i should be able to open them
Thanks for the idea.:bow

too poorly

Stevie, I have been poorly - went to bed as soon as I got in from work consequently I haven`t spent any time sorting out your problem. I hope they don`t cancel beause I`m poorly...........:(

I`m sorry but tmoz I go under the knife - the docs says the recovery time is 6-7 weeks (my arse, I aim to be back at work on Monday in a wheelchair if need be).

It sounds like there might be a cheap and easy fix to this - if so take it as I am conscious of letting you down and if I finally get any brackets made I`ll send you a pair with my compliments which you can then replace the not so perfect ones you might have made!

Mark if your looking for sympathyn :comfort:( its between shit and (that dick disease) that i cant be arsed trying to spell in the dictionary:augie

mmm yes mate it WAS only to be a knee op with 6 weeks off (I had made plans to be back at work on Monday) but sadly it wasn`t just the cartilage that's gone - when they opened up the joint they found something else and I`ve also been diagnosed with osteoarthritis - that's what was giving me the pain - the end of the leg bone has simply fallen to bits. I`m devastated and on crutches now :tears

This is simply one of those things that hits us all, I know, and I will always realise that there are far worse off than me - our lads for instance coming home with no arms or legs - but for now I will allow myself a little self pity.

I will still be back at work on Monday and with an attitude of beating this and carrying on :bounce1

thankfully only the day before I had been down to Tesco and refilled my huge wine celler so I am fully stocked up with pain relief and last night I drowned my self pity with a small sherry................................

Sorry to hear that, Mark. Get well soon mate.:thumb

Couldn't you make yourself a stainless knee joint? Take it easy and get well soon. It's no fun being your own boss when you are ill.

wish I could!

And no its not looking too rosy at the moment.............

But with that said after I`d had a wee chunk of self pity shoved out the way I will get on with it. The hospital gave me a sick note for 6 weeks. I`m back at work on Monday........

The only problem are these damn crutches................

and thank you for your concern

You will have redesigned the crutches by Monday afternoon with a drop down undercarriage so you can use the bike :)
