Reliving bike trips whilst sat at my desk....
I live in Maidenhead and commute to London. So far I haven't found any decent roads in the area. Some could be nice but have 30 limit village every 1.5 miles. Others are straight. Others are a combination of both. They all seem to involve cameras in one form or another. :( . I once found a v twisty stretch with about 15 corners through woodland and no houses, but only just over a mile long. Intense but short lived, like so many experinces in my life :P .

So any recommendations to a bloke who hasn't bothered looking for hiself as it feels like looking for a safety pin in a nailstack (Twisty amongst the straight. Get it?).

There are loads around you, but like you say its knowing where to look. For starters could I suggest A4 towards Reading, turn left at the Travel Lodge following the signs to Twyford. Theres a couple of miles of built up bits but then it opens up. If you basically follow the signs to Paley Street, Windsor, Oakley Green, there are some nice bends. Alternatively go to north of Slough and loose yourselve in Burnham Beeches, which is the mutts nutz, with hardly a straight peice of road.

Twisties

Warthog,
If you have a spare day I'll show you plenty within the vicinity but you are correct about the speed limits, plenty in your area.
Bill seems to know his way around too!!
With a little patience you will find some cracking roads around Maidenhead.
A308 to Marlow, short but sweet!
North of Marlow into OXON also has some fine GS roads.
Give ma a shout and we can link up for a spin.

Thanks for the invite. May well take you up on the offer. I have a bad back at the mo' so my abilities to go anywhere canchange from one day to another!! Also I haven't ridden my GS in an energetic way, so I don't know what I'll be like to ride out with. Will I be slow, very slow, or stationary!! These points aside, and if my backs doing ok one weekend and the weather is playing fair, then I'd love to take you up on a ride out!! ;)

Man your spoilt for choice.

Though it says Oldham in my address I spend my week days in maidenhead.
You can play in the woods and hills around Burnham, Cookham & Bourne End if you want to stay local. Go north to the otherside of the M40 and get up to Great Missenden and Princes Risborough. My favourite stretch is the short but very sweet decent on the A40 running parallel with the M40 between junction 5 at Stokenchurch and junction 6.
Stockenchurch to Marlow Rd. Marlow to Henley.
South over the M4 around Bracknell. Hartley Whitney, Swallowfield, Arborfield.
Man your spoilt for choice, just get out there and ride.
Your a lucky man to have some of the best roads of Buckingham, Berkshire and Hampshire right on your doorstep.
Drop me a PM if you ever need a guide. :thumb

Blowzorn: Thanks for the offer. As with Pat, I'd love to take you up on that and no doubt, will, but the back takes priority so don't be offended if you hear nothing from me for a little while! :thumb

I'm off to get my map out of the drawer!

Used to comute from Basingstoke to Maidenhead and there are some cracking roads if you are prepared to look around, Twyford area can be goog, heading down towards Wokingham area, then on to Bracknell, or try further afield down to Basingstoke and the A339 to Alton, or push on to Odiham, or double back over to the Candovers, lots around, just need to go get lost to find em, works for me.
Or go South towards the coast / Newlands corner at Guildford, Box Hill, the roads are there and most of the best ones for a GS are police free

Hi
There are lots around especially if you go south of Wokingham or to your west. Happy to show you them as I spend a lot of time looking for them for riding out from TVAM meets. Look me know if you still haven't found any
Neville
TVAM = Thames Vale Advanced Motorcyclists who meet on the 3rd Sunday of every month in Wokingham (for those of you who were wondering) and there seem to be an ever increasing number of GSs there. :thumb
