I have enjoyed 20,000mls on a 650 v twin Transalp and grown so fond of it we are joined at hip. Now thinking of a F650GS twin, done the demo ride and want one. It felt a much different ride, sat on the GS not in it like the Transalp. OK I nearly accidently lifted the front wheel when cancelling the indicators with my throttle hand but that should pass. I would greatly appreciate hearing from any Transalp owners who have jumped ship for a GS

I have had two TransAlps. The last one I gave to my son and was stolen in Bristol a month ago. I then had a Triumph 955i Tiger and sold that and bought a Dakar. I really like the TransAlp but I think the Dakar is more fun. I am not sure that the two bikes really compare. The TransAlp was bomb proof. I took mine down to Morocco and it had about 60,000 miles on the clock. I like the Dakar as it is light and seems economic on fuel after the Tiger. I was looking at a GS but the Dakar came up and it seemed to be the ideal bike........at present.
Not too keen about the price of BMW parts though!

I used a 700 for a couple of years while still owning a GS, I know lots of people love these bikes but I found it bland but to be fair it never let me down.
