Any Explorer riders now on LC's

I've done about 10k miles touring with Varios - no issues at all with practicality for everyday road use. I also think the new ones on the LC are an even better fit than before. Main advantage to me is there is no ugly scaffolding to see when you take the boxes off - the bike looks sharp and has better lines.

Of course if you don't fit the box to your bike properly in the first place...well stuff is gonna fall off:blast

On the other hand - if I was heading down the Road of Bones I'm sure I'd feel differently!

Here you go Batman...red with spokes!!

I agree with Nutty.. Ally boxes may be nice but not sure they suit the std GS and who ever it was may need to justify the additional expense.

The newer Varios, in my opinion are better than the old ones now they locate on the rear foot rest hangers. The top mounts are also stronger.

As for the spokes..yep cheaper to order up front. They don't look plated but are slightly magnetic - probably a high chrome content steel, I'm not sure stainless would have quite the right properties for spokes, strength wise.

Hi Jonny, thanks for the pickie they sure do look great, I see that you have a fender extender too, does it keep most of the crud off the front clutch cover?

Gateway, yes a good point re the scaffolding when the luggage is not in use!

20 minutes, a record?

A very good friend of mine had a pig of an anniversary - it really was horrible - he sold it, disgusted with BMW, and bought a Yam ten.

had a 20 minute go on my LC, sold his yam ten and ordered an LC.

Fantastic bike and IMHO well worth the accolades.

Hi Batman,

Only fitted it this morning (the extender) so not sure yet. Had one on my last GS and it seemed to do the trick!

Remember.... Red and Spokes!!

Red maybe but imo. theyve finally got some decent looking alloy wheels on the bike. No need for spokes.

I had spokes on my last 2007 GS and I thought they were great but must admit the new alloys look excellent and suit the new bike:cool:

Jonny, Yep I've got that 'Red with Spokes'.

I'll take a peek at bedtime to follow with good continent crossing dreams. Do they clean up okay with a power wash?

Which are the lightest Spoked or Cast?
