Any F450 GS bikes in dealers yet?

Took the F450 GS Trophy out for a test ride today , found it very uninspiring and didn't like the easy clutch

Build quality seems OK visually

At nearly £8K I wouldn't be tempted at all

It rides similar to the G310GS which you can now pick up a ex demonstrator with 3 years warranty and as little as 5 miles on the clock for under £4K

Asking on behalf of a vertically challenged friend! How did you find the seat height?🤔

That’s a bit of a disappointment to hear that the bike itself didn’t light any fires of desire.

From your pics and how clean it looks can we assume that the test ride was all on road?
If that’s the case your assessment relegates it to being a soulless commuter bike for road riders looking to downsize for town work and country lane bimbles.
It’s a good looking thing in my opinion, but I can’t see many new A2 riders forking out that sort of cash for something that’s a bit lacklustre in its on road performance.

I’m a confirmed Luddite and a lot of new tech often fails to strike a chord with me so I was sceptical about the easy clutch having never even experienced dct.
What was it about the new clutch? Crude in how it functions across the range of riding situations or was it just plain weird?

Yes , test ride was purely on road , mainly B roads and small lanes . The easy clutch seemed a bit harsh , you had to wind the revs up to get it going and therefore easing gently out of a junction was challenging , It may be that once you were used to it , it would be better but on the short road ride i had I didn't like it at all

I think a lot of dealers had launches this weekend

My local dealer emailed me asking if i wanted to pop over

Nope, no interest whatsoever

I took one out today, and everone view is subjective, but coming from a 250 Rally, was pleasantly suprised. Looking to stay with a smaller bike I am looking to replace the rally with something that I could go out on my own, poke my nose along small trails but also keep up with a group on days out. If it could do a group tour, that would be a bonus.
I was told either use the clutch as normal or not use it. That wasnt quite true, I selefted first and using the clutch looked for the biting point-- it never came. So unless anyone finds how to do it, you have to pull away as a honda 50. This was handy at lights, leaving the bike in gear and twisting the throttle. Like others I found the erc clutch lumpy unless at the right revs. Some reports say you cant park it on a bank using the gears as a brake, but thats not the case, it works in first, but any other gear it rolls.
I found the engine bgreat, reved freely and took it up to 90mph with no problems and no real vibration buzz some testers reported! Cruising around 75 was good, with plenty whack left for safe overtakes.
Around the twisties, I found the handling excellent and the engine very responsive (yes this is coming from a 250, but it was as good as the larger bikes I have had)
I am 5-9, 29 inch inseam--- could not flat foot it, but not far off- it was comfotable, but the bike had the low seat option fitted. Standing position comfortable.
I Did a gravel road, but most bikes can do that, so no test there!
Could this be a small all rounder for me-- yes with the right extras, - love the engine, the handling, dont like the erc clutch much, and the standard screen is not good.

Useful that you referenced your thoughts in relation to your 250 Rally to give it some context 👍

Looks like the easy ride clutch set up is going to be a bit of a marmite thing in the same way Honda’s DCT was when that first showcased. Might just have to take one out to see what the ERC is all about, but I don’t expect it will win me over from what I’ve seen so far.

Looked at one in Halliwell Jones Chester today. Looks to be a base model in black. Couldnt find any info on it as there was no price and the two sales staff were desperately interested in their screens. Two guys were looking at a 1300GSA. I heard one of them saying he was waiting for a price from we buy any bike. They were ignored as well. Must have sold all their allocation for June already 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I looked at one of these to get back into riding after a layoff due to illness. The biggest issue with this bike is that the market has changed a fair bit since they dreamt it up, and the long time to market now makes it look distinctly expensive. It does have lighter weight than competitors but a spoked wheel Trophy, once available is knocking on £8,500, more than 50% more than a Himi or a 450MT. It looks even worse when you see the new CF 1000MTX - more than double the capacity, power and torque is a few hundred more. And before anyone says BMW quality we all know that’s not been a thing for a long time, plus it’s made in India by TVS. I’ll miss BMW the brand as I’ve had plenty of them, but they just don’t seem to make a bike I want to buy anymore.

Great looking bike, but id have a Triumph 400 XC before this, or indeed a 450 MT.

This need to be priced somewhere in the Triumph 400 range, then they would sell i believe

Or a QJ motor SRT 450 RX with full luggage, heated seat , heated grips etc etc for £5499 !
Similar power to the GS

Group one in Brighton have two demos . I had a sit on one , it’s bigger than a 310 but is obviously built to a price . Looks like a KTM really . Not for me but I guess it will sell well . Only 11per dealer this year to keep residuals buoyant
