Any FXR experts in da house ?

Was looking at an 88 FXRS-SP last night and it didn't have a CV carb fitted which in my mind it should have

Does anyone know if the FXR came standard with a non CV carb as the owner was adamant that the carb was original

1988 would have had a keihin butterfly carb as standard 27029-88.
CV came in around 1990 on the big twins.
