Only my second post on here but I've been mining all the great information available.
I'm looking for recommendations for a good indy mechanic in Scotland (central belt and north) - thinking of a Steptoe type, as I may be needing clutch replacement - see below.
I'm still looking for an 1150GS to buy but at the moment I have a loan of a mate's one and have been getting out and about on it. This might be a possible purchase option.
It now appears the slave cylinder on it needs replacing. It's lost the clutch fluid and on removing the starter motor I can see it dripping where it has run along the actuater shaft (if thats the correct term).
I'm in the process of trying to access the slave (using the info on the forum) and once its out I can establish that its failed and get another and install.
However I'm assuming that if the clutch is not already ruined by the fluid contamination it wont be far behind hence my search for mechanic recommendations.
I'm handy spannering on my jap bike but doing any big jobs on the GS doestn't appeal, so I'd want to involve an "expert" Also it helps to keep the cost down compared to dealers.
Many thanks
