Ive been out of the green laning game for a few years now but having recently acquired a 1100 it would be rude not to get it dirty, I used to head out on the lanes just off of the A414 High Ongar for a good days laning with a small group.. Sadly over the years they have migrated back to road bikes so im now billy no mates when it comes to the mucky stuff..

So any other BIG bike greenlaners on here in or around the Essex area???

Obviously joining the local TRF is a option but im a member of so many bloody things these days my letter box is maxed out with news letters :blagblah

Hi there I've just bought a GS1200 and would like to give it a go offroad. I'm a total newbie to offroading, but have 32 years of riding, so not a total newbie.....

I'm in Loughton so no distance to Ongar, I can go for a blast from beginning of Jan if you wish.:)

Hi ... theres a few of us in Kent who get out on the trails on big bikes. Im always up for a muddy outing . Check out the adventure bike rider forum , theres often rideouts posted on there.

Hey.

Im in loughton as well Ktm 990. Im up for some lanes. Hertfordshire is good for big bikes.

Ok looks like we may have a small group then,

Just out of curiosity "Bandit" have you ever owned a XR250 and been on the XRV site???.. I purchased a XR off someone that had a forum avatar of a Pirate and owned a 990 a few years back. You???

Not been laning in Hertfordshire but would, I always tended to stay around the Dunmow area, obviously wont go into details on a open forum about pin point trail location (Mums the word and all that).. Still thinking how bloody heavy the GS will be to pick up

I could organise a bike bike ride around Herts in Jan, who'd be interested?

I would be keen to join you on my R1150GS. I'm waiting for Harris Performance to fit a lighter spring to my rear shock at the moment.

Nope.

I did stop there for a cuppa after the TRF beginners run.

Then headed off to the John Bunyan to do the lane down to Marford Road. Half way down the lane I heard something behind me and a group from the TRF had caught me up. Good job that they came along because there were enough of us to shift a fallen tree out of the way.

Out of curiosity what tyres you guys running for the mucky business, TKC80's..

Ive always used Michelin AC10 but not really a option for a beast like a 11 that will also need to do road work, im very nearly being turned by the new Sava MC60..

TKC 80's for me on my current KTM 950 and TKC's on my previous BMW 11**'s . I have always found them good on the road and good off road but I guess everyone has their preferences.

I have used TKC's before on this bike but that was used on some really crap roads so not exactly going for it,

Plus that bike had 45hp max :weights

My toss up at the moment is either a set of TKC (please post up if you know of any deals) or try the new Sava out...

Sunday 26th - 9:00 start

If people would like it, I will lead a ride starting from Harpenden and do an anti clockwise loop around Herts suitable for big bikes.

Around 100 miles

Returning to Harpenden via Hertford and the lanes that lead across to a Welham Green ( which might be of interest to those that want to cut and return East from there)

TKC or the like please unless you are confident of your ability on road tyres

TKC's are great for a GS

I like the look of those Sava tyres, the rockriders mc23 look interesting but not for a big GS being used everyday
