Had a friend call me re him rebuilding his R450 with a Siebenrock replacement barrel and piston. One of his valves let go at which mullered the Siebenrock 860cc kit on that side as well. So, he ordered two replacement reconditioned 450 heads from Motorworks and he also ordered via them a replacement 860 barrel and piston ( new ) from Siebenrock. He has just noticed that the barrel shows an 'A' barrel and the piston shows a 'AB' piston. He will be contacting Sienbenrock on Monday but asked me to enquire if this barrel and piston are OK to install?

Hiya, my kit came with a label on the box with A AB etc combination marked for what I received. The proper grading covering more than one letter. I can't see that in the online instructions in pdf though. I think the grading is OK, but a call or email will confirm.

A and Z probably being a bad match!

Thanks for the reply. My friend ordered the parts ( heads reconditioned and the Siebenrock parts ) through Motorworks. They haven't, as yet, been the most helpful ( asking for pics and more emails ). Thing is, if he sends the barrel and piston back, he will have to pay VAT etc on the replacement parts from Siebenrock ( I told him to order direct ). Matey also says the gudgeon pin fits ( without any play ) but usually you have to heat the piston to slide the pin in. Goes on to say, picture he saw of the kit showed the two pushrod tubes already fitted, his aren't ! So, he'll have to buy a pushrod tool etc. He has spent about £1,400 with all of this and is happy to be corrected, he just doesn't gel with the parts sent to him. Hope this makes sense.

My kit came with pushrod sleeves in, but the instructions included how to fit them (from memory). The gudgeon pins required no heat, gentle tapping with a drift being correct. I'm pretty sure the A AB combo is also correct. I may have a pic of the box or sheet somewhere. I'll have a look when I'm back off site.

I would email Siebenrock direct, as they are a very profesional outfit and wil know immediately. Motorworks are only a distributer.

Hiya, did you solve this?
He has sent the ( in his opinion ) the defective barrel etc back to Siebenrock. Motorworks ( who have been fantastic ) have managed to get him a discounted upgrade kit of both barrels etc. So, all should be sorted but he is VERY disappointed in the customer relations from Siebenrock and is doubtful he would use this company again !

I'm not convinced. The gear I've had from Siebenrock has been superb. Surely an email to Germany and reply is quicker and cheaper than sending the equipment back?

Let us know what happens please.
