Guys, due to the crutches I`ve been designing my head off and just finished a light guard for my LC as follows.

I`m thinking of doing something similar for my F800 Adv (which still has only 300 miles on it but I hope to remedy that in 3 weeks when I`m off these damn sticks......)

So, the questions are:

1. Is the same `style` a good idea for the F800?
2. Is the headlight the same on the 650/700? (but to find out I`m happy to send a prototype to a fellow 650 owner to confirm........)

Once I`ve listened to any replies (you can PM me if you wish) then I would in time make something and put it in the vendors section.

I`m an F800 newbie so I really don`t know if its a sensible thing to have.............

Hi Mark. I'm not sure about the current 700/800 models, but the earlier 650 and 800 twins have the same light. I'm 99% certain that the 700/800 is also the same.

Style wise, it looks good. However, I'm not totally convinced on the protection offered. The gaps look big enough for quite a substantial stone. I've got the rugged roads poly guard on mine.

yep fair comment and thanks for taking the time - its a balance between protection and blocking the light but I do agree with you. Something will always get through - I guess its just a matter of reducing what it is.

I`m looking at developing a guard which has a makrolon cover on it (posh word for polycarb) once I`ve got the shape and fitting right.............

Don't take me wrong I like your input thought and enthusiasm.

Feed back :thumb2:D

If it fits F650 then it fits the f800 and most likely the F700 the lights are F series.

The pattern is a little bit wishy washy dare I say Tarty scrolly like icing on a cake :eek  :nenau

And its purpose to guard the light, I Have one by another vendor I thought that was big patterned but I like it throws an interesting webb of light pattern in the dark. I would of thought no bigger areas than a 10p peice or smaller if its not backed with a poly carbonate sheild.

I realise it similar but not copying TT

Yes you can make it sensible.

ha - soz, guess I`m lucky not to have been slated..............yet :-) (there's still time!)

anyway onto the goodly points:

ah, so it may fit its younger brother, that helps ta.
Ha - tarty - like it, but a very valid opinion nonetheless, the design I`m currently working on is a little different so I may look at `manning` it up - I took the inspiration from TT who I consider the best there is............(but that's only my opinion)

I may look at combining it with a polycarb shield at the back but I`m conscious of it being `reasonably unaffordable`

but yes, ta for the input and many thanks for doing so

oh, I do like the F800, looking forward to getting back on it more than the LC if I`m honest...........

I think a few would agree with you and many that would not :thumb

TT have had a few different types, I like the early mesh ones. you have somehow made your prototype more tarty than the TT one :nenau

I get your point about poly and the cost, then you could be into anti glare sheilds, etc

I look forward to seeing your end result :thumby:

speedy recovery with them their sticks Mr Hooton :comfort :thumb :beerjug:

yes - what I have found is what one of us likes the other one doesn`t lol!

I`ll post something as soon as I can and thank you for the very kind words about the sticks. It has been getting me down but theres nowt I can do about it so I am `growing a pair` and `manning up` :bounce1

here it is

1 piece, uses 3 fastening points, powder coat over stainless steel. Gonna put it up in the vendors section for £59.99 inc VAT................
