A someone alreadt said, the new engine has a higher compression ratio then the old one. 12.0 versus 11.0.

It may be mass produced high precision engineering, but it is an air/oil cooled motor.

If BMW say 100HP at the flywheel and BOS measure 85 at the back wheel either
a) the test is suspect(methods and/or equipment)
b) BMW figures are suspect(methods and/or equipment)
c) Extraordinary levels of mechanical inefficiency are being achieved by BMW transmissions!!(last time I checked the GS had a gearbox and shaft drive, not V belts!!)

Birdseye, you can probbly detect from my posts that I am very suspicious of manufacturers claimed outputs. The only way to be sure is have it dyno'd and work from this base figure to get improvements. As for precision engineering, I'm not convinced that BMW have achieved the manufacturing excellence of Mr Honda. Did'nt stop me buying a GS though !!

Big Simp, I see you are in N. Ireland. What changes have you made to your Gs and who did the dyno testing for you? Thats a decent output at the back wheel and I'm interested in learning what could improve my 06 GSA.
