Just thought i'd point out....
If the 911 is the enthusiast version and you're thinking of resetting the service indicator etc you'll be using up one of the ten VIN numbers it's allocated.

No steppers that would be unfair I just really would like to have a face to face to go through some of the points I'm a bit vague about . I have more or less decided to go for one in any case. The forum is a bit limiting for discussion etc that's why it would be nice to have a sort of face to face. The total cost of my next service would easily cover my expenditure to date on torx sockets lo range torque wrench and the Gs-911 and of course the consumables, oil plugs alt belt etc etc.

I am probably a bit too far away to pop over just yet. However I suffer from a complete lack of imagination and had to screw my eyes tight shut to actually go ahead and buy one of these several years ago on the group buy, found the 911 website to be factual but not captivating. Have the PC version and also have the phone version on my cheepo bluetooth Samsung for "showing off in public" when required. Just get one and be done, you will be able to use it (with care - see Steptoe above re VIN) on most BMWs around.
It does not give all the answers but provides all the pointers.

Blackall it's sold. Kenny have you got a land line number and I'll give you a call with a few queries. I presume steppers comment on vin is as I thought, that you are limited to the number of bikes / Vehicles you can interrogate on the basic version. That would be the one for me.

If you're near Fisherrow one day I could give you a basic rundown with a 911 on my bike as to what it can do. It can do more than I know like data logging etc. You can read fault codes and clear on any bmw, just the more advanced stuff like esa checking, ABS valve cycling etc is on the limited vin restrictions. Its 10 which is pretty reasonable really.

Thanks guys for all your help have ordered oils plugs will have to get the alt belt through a dealer and also funnily enough an air filter, the rest I am getting from bike dealer in the toon. As daughters partner goes past westgate road will save me fifty mile trip. I'll speak to one of you guys who have offered to help. And have a run out as Penicuick up the 68 is nice run. Well when the weather improves. Strange told the wife once that PD fish market well the old one was one of the coldest places but not sure anymore or maybe its old age 69 this year.
