Any new info on UK to Norway ferries

what about the ferry that stops at Kirstiansand on route to Sweden? from memory it goes from inningham?

it's more for freight but does the job!
It stops at Brekvik.
From post #6 in this thread:
Just had this pointed out to me:
http://www.dfdstorline.com/DfdsTorLine/EN/Schedules/NorthSea/NorBridge/

It's a commercial crossing but they will take private passengers and vehicles too.
Fares are here:
http://www.dfdstorline.com/DfdsTorLine/EN/Presentation/Passengers/PassengerFares/NorBridge.htm

It is a little cheaper than going via Denmark, but the crossing times aren't as convenient.

Website has changed since then tho:
So http://freight.dfdsseaways.com/dfds_ferries/north_sea_ferries/brevik_immingham_ferries/ gets the route.
Enquiries for passenger transport on this route should be direct to Brevik (Tel: +47 38 10 55 14) or Immingham (Tel: +44 1469 55 26 98 / Email: [email protected] ).

Yeah the DFDS cargo ferry goes from Immingham and Tillbury docks to either Brevik or Gothenburg or a combination of the two if your really unlucky and book the wrong one.

I have never had a problem on the ferry and I really rate it but it would still be nice to have an alternative option as the cargo ferry only supports about 12 passengers in total

I do like the look of my Whitby to Moskenes option though :drool means more time in Lappland

I've done the cargo ferry a couple of times....:thumb2 it's abit dull, great for catching up on sleep.

I even got to drive it for a while:thumb2

finding the access to the ferry was abit of a challenge...:augie

I had a drive myself in July

Must be the smallest joystick in the world compared to the device being driven - its the joystick closest to the captains left elbow ( hes the one in the White shirt )

smaller than my old Atari Joystick.

You need to do the ferry at least twice just so you know where you are going, A tad daunting the firs time for sure :eek

can't find my thread but cos its freight it's in the freight terminal which had little in the way of sign posts.

at Gothenburg the ferry terminal is in the middle of town but the freight one is the other side of the fjord and not sign posted, easiest way to find it follow the smell of piss, once in the carpark with the portacabin your in the right place. :thumb2

At Kristiensand Norway which is what the boat driver dude called it (sorry for the spelling) it's out of town down a big hill. and it was called Brevick on the ticket... but it wasn't brevick... according to the Slagnav

Immingham they told me off for not having a HiViz jacket....:blast which nobody told me I needed....:blast

found it...

Best Advice I can give is when you get off the Ferry at Gothenburg mark it on your Sat Nav so you can find it again - makes it a doddle on the way back. If you dont have a sat nav then your on your own

On the way back as you arrive at the Ferry dock gates, just carry on down the road for about 1/2 mile until you see a single storey blue building on the left in the centre of both carriageways where all the lorries park.

Park up and go through the security gate into the building and join the que behind the Polish truckers.

When your done head back up past the ferry dock and wait in the Hotel at Arken pretending your a guest, i usually spend a good few quid in the little shop next to the Desk and they leave you alone, sit in the chairs on the left of the doorway and relax.

When its time to go, head back to the dock through the gates and wait in the que on the right by the locked gate as directed by the Staff. Customs will come and collect you and take you to the ferry.

Simples ( well after the first year it is anyway ) HTH

farmboy has it pinned mark your places you need to get back to as you go along. Sadly I had to be a relief driver and the matey whom I replaced didn't bother on the outward trip...:blast

made the satnav nearly useless...:blast
