Somebody told me there are some pics on the internet....

As far as I know, this model is supposed to be shown either at Cologne in October (INTERMOT) or in Milan in November (EICMA)....

Very curious :P

I`d heard it will be arriving in Spring `07 so an unveiling at either or both of those venues seems likely.

two new f800 engined bikes are supposed, ;) to be making their debut at this years intermot show in cologne, germany . a naked f800r roadster and an enduro style f800gs . the show runs from the 11/15 of october, so expect to see the first genuine pics just before then . there are lots of f800gs type pics on the net, but all the ones i have seen are photoshop mock ups of what people think the new f800gs ...MIGHT  .... look like .

this is the best mock up i have seen so far. if it,s anything close to this picture i,m having one .

I think this is the "closest to reality" pic I have seen, and although it looks to me more "road oriented" than the actual F650GS, it is quite appealing and not bad at all.

Thanks for posting it :thumb

I have Intermot tickets, I'm looking forward to it even more so now! If it is anything like the image shown here I have a feeling 1200 sales will pretty much cease..... It looks bad ass :thumb

Well, then you must bring your camera with you and come back with something for us mortals.... :D

Anyone knows about specs?

Actually, there are supposed to be some pics shown on an Italian Magazine (TUTTOMOTO - August 2006) which I have missed :spitfire

My dealer told me this bike is supposed to be lighter than the 650

Getting closed to the event, I am sure more pics and info will soon appear on the net.

Keep scouting.... :beerjug:

as i am a subscriber, i just recieved this months copy of motorcycle sport and leisure, and it contains an interview with dr,herbert diess( he is the head of bmw,s motorcycle division ) and he has confirmed that ,yes they are working on an f800 engined gs type bike , which he says will fit in perfectly between the f650gs single and the big r1200gs. but he says that it is still too early to say when it will be ready . so now we know it,s coming :thumb :D

Kinda nice looks, but that belt-drive obviously seems horribly misplaced on a roughneck allroad-vehicle. Nice photo-montage, though.

Popped into Clarks BMW today, the salesman there said that the f800gs is only a rumour and that BMW don't think the engine, as it is, is suitable for an off road bike. Looks like a longer wait for my F650gs replacement then.....

On the other hand, sat on a f800st..VERY nice bike, got to wait for the 8 from 10 or Lotto to come in before I can swap unfortunately.

Salesmen know less than the avarage school kid. Dr Weiss has confirmed the Gs will be available but they are still working on it. This is from the BMWmotorrad site in South Africa.

The F 800 GS - BMW SA speaks out
'In the automotive industry (like the notorious entertainment industry), the presence of rumours is an ever-present factor which involves manufacturers, press and the general public.

It often seems like a bit of a game as journalists seem to uncover the latest product testing or spy shots, whilst the manufacturer either confirms or denies these. And as with the entertainment industry, it can go either way, with journalists sometimes uncovering a scoop or else being horribly off the mark.

So the same is true with the latest models being purportedly developed by BMW. After a popular motoring website ran an article last week 'confirming' that BMW is developing the F 800 GS and also working on a smaller F 450 GS, BMW Motorrad SA was inundated with queries regarding the 'new' bikes.

In order to clarify the matter, BMW Motorrad SA's general manager, Lachlan Harris, confirmed that BMW is working on a GS version of the F800, but that designs are still in their early stages and that the South African public would definitely not see the bike before 2008.

BMW Motorrad's special projects manager, Deon Meyer also confimed that any current 'images' of the upcoming bike are purely speculative and should not be treated as 'the real thing'.

I can't see it having the belt on an off roader, but who knows with Mbw.If it's fully enclosed,it shoudn't be too much bother. It wouldn't be at all difficult to put a chain on it in the design stages, and probably wouldn't be a nightmare to do it afterwards. How many belt drive conversions are there out there for primary drives. Can't see it being a problem going the other way!

I'm having one anyway :thumb
