I am hoping to get to Norway for mid-summer this june. I know Norway has some fantastic salmon fishing. I hope to rent a room and hire a boat and guide for a days fishing in Grong around the 20th June). I think I am right that the river Namsen is one of the best salmon rivers in Norway. I think I have probably left it a little late and all the guides and boats will be reserved.

After the Namsen, where else should I try to get a days fishing? I have never caught a salmon on a rod and it is one of my ambitions :) Any sugestions appreciated :beerjug:

Norway: top country for GSing and fishing  If only the beer was cheaper :tears ;)

Have a look at this website, run by a guy called Harald Oyen, he's a mine of info on Norwegian salmon fishing, lives in Lancs somewhere. He runs it on a commercial basis though, and I don't know what his prices are like. There's a tributary of the Namsen called the Bjora which, whilst still a BIG river, is more accessible for bank fishing if you can't get a guide and a boat on the main river. It gets a good run of big seatrout as well and for my money, I'd prefer a decent seatrout over a salmon any day. Tight lines, post pix of your fish when you get back :D

Thank's for the link and advice Shuck Raider :thumb2

Now booked to sail from Newcasle to Stavanger for the 15th June, with accomadation and bank fishing booked in Grong for the 19th to 21st: fishing the Namson mid-summer's eve :beerjug: Think I will put a bottle of red in the pannier to celebrate if I do catch a fish (or even if I don't :) )

Have to decide on the route home now: Ferry to DK, visit friends then ferry to Rostock and ride into Poland looks good. :bounce1
