Any one tried a R1200R

They don't seem to get good ratings anywhere... Not Bad either..
All reviews I've read seem to give it a 3* rating and say it's not that versatile..

If it's anything like the 1150R, they won't hold their value (1150R's go for very low prices compared to a GS).

I had one for the day..........

............Demo bike while my new GSA was having it's first service.

Thier absolutely balistic. I can't realistically see how you could get to the end of it's power within reason on british roads. I gave it a good fistfull a few times but never really got it right up into the power propper. However despite how powerfull it is, it's still very very torquey. 4th, 5th and 6th gears are all you really need once you are on the move.
I found the handling a little strange, The forks are dog legged ans as a result tent to turn themselves according to lean angle. They are very long and don't turn in particularly quickly.
All in all a very good bike, certainly a huge contrast to my GSA that I dropped off. It was nice to have for the day and the power really is truely amazing but when all was said and done I was happy go give the keys back and get back on the GSA.:thumb

To all those sceptical of my description of it's power........back in my sports bike days I'd always have a Fireblade to play with when my mine was being serviced. I feel that a R1200R would eat a Blade in a straight line!

Humble pie!

:eek..errrr sorry guys, It was a K1200S that I rode:augie

My review of this bike still stands though!!

I had one as a coutesy bike the last time the Gs was serviced. An excellent bike with fab handling. Its lack of weight over the GS was also noticable with a fair bit more go apparent. Seemed pretty good for cruising up to about 80 ish before the wind blast became an issue. Dunno how much they go for but a far better bike than any of the gutless 4 cyclinder naked bikes the japanese are offering (with the possible exception of that suzuki 'busa based thing)
Would defo consider one as an alternative to the GS if you don't do much two up or riding on rough roads.
