Any one tried this bag

Has any one tried one of these. How do they compare to a geuine BMW one or others out there.
Have an Alpha baglux bag not sure if to go for the baglux cover or a shaped traily type bag like in the advert .
Cheers for any recommendations

Just got one of these off Santa. Not fitted it yet but it looks good. I wouldn't want a bag any bigger as it would obscure the clocks. I think I'm going to put some extra 'foam' or similar between the tank cover and tank though as over time I reckon it could mark it. Good price I reckon compared to other stuff.
I had the Alpha bag on my old bikes but I don't think it will fit the GS due to the shape of the tank. You would need to buy a smaller bag to go with the Baglux harness.

I have a Famsa tank bag for my 1200, and I really like it.

Plus points......Easy to fit the base to the tank........plenty of room....expandable.......little pockets for toll money/camera/phone etc....waterproof cover.....no problem seeing the clocks/GPS.....no problem with lock to lock manouvers......and can be used off the 'bike as a shoulder bag.

Minus points....Slightly fiddly to zip the main bag onto the base. There is definitely a "knack" to it, but you soon pick it up. When I fuel up, I don't take the bad off completely, I just unzip it half way 'round......Doddle.

I have used it on few Euro' trips, covering approx' eight thousand miles with it on the 'bike, and my tank is completely unmarked. It's a good bag......:thumb2 :)

I would definitely buy another, but I would also have a look at the SW Motech bag. It has a clever clip thing, that attaches the bag, to the petrol filler ring.......Nippy Norman does them.....See above.

The BMW bag wasn't for me. I didn't like the sticky pad thing, or the way that the bag sat when full up......just a personal thing.

HTH.....:)

Hi Red Rocket, I to have been looking at the various tank bags available for the 1200GS over the last week with a view to purchasing one with my `Santa` money.

I`ve also come across this bag and am very impressed with both the looks and the price, I like the fact that it attaches to the tank via hooked straps as opposed to sticking a piece of velcro to the rear of the tank.

Having just read Jonnie Comet`s views my mind has been made up and I will be treating myself to one ASAP, when you look at the prices of the alternatives this bag seems great value for money. I`ll be looking for a tail-pack next so if you`ve seen any Red Rocket I`d be interested. :thumb

Hi Jonnie, looked at these last year but never actually decided, however, now going to buy one on your review, one thing, spec says shower proof, how good is that please.

I have one as well on the 1200, good bit of kit, also have the side bags that zip on. Good for stuffing full of odds an sods. I tend to scrumple up my tent
( if dry ) and stick it in one of the side bags. I did give the whole thing a good spray with Nik wax waterproofer and let it dry on the washing line, cos you want always want to stop at the first sign of rain....Nice thing is, if you get a new bike you only have to replace the tank bit as the bags zip to all models.

If you get caught in a shower, it will be just fine, but it comes with a waterproof cover for when you hit the heavy stuff. The waterproof cover does tend to "bellow" out in the wind, so I tend not to bother with it. The screen on the 1200 keeps a lot of the rain off the bag anyway. I've ridden through my fair share of rain, and not had any problems with it.

It's a good bag, I doubt that you would be disappointed.......:thumb2 :)

Hi Jonnie, cheers for that mate, will be placing the order, will let you know how i get on, going to get a roll bag too, any thoughts please?

Receieved mine pretty quickly.
Impressed with it so far .
A dodddle to fit the harness. Fitting the bag to harness as Jonnie Comet remarked is a bit fiddly hoping I'll get the hang of it .
Only sat in the shed pretending to ride as you do & it seems fine.:thumb2
