Is it possible to have MGRS, UTM, BNG, Maidenhead, User etc etc datum on the Garmin 2610??? Or only Lat/Long? Not everyone user Lat/Long y'see

Any help would be........ uh helpful I guess :D

Only lat and long. If you want any other referencing system you need a Quest, 276, or one of the hand helds. If you need it for trail riding a cheap hand held would be your best bet. I've got a 2610 its a weakness of the unit IMHO and reckon garmin could sort it with a firmware upgrade.

Hey, not so fast there! In direct response to requests made by members of this forum, the Garmin software engineers have provided support for multiple map datums and multiple reference formats on the new Garmin 2820 and its twin, the BMW Nav III. I rather expect that this feature will be made available by way of a future software update to users of the 27xx series GPSRs as well. Unfortunately, it probably won't be possible to make this feature available to users of the 26xx series because of the big difference in the user interface between the 26xx and the later 2xxx series GPSRs.

So - if you want all those datums, you can get a Nav III or a 2820, or you can wait a bit and (most likely) the feature will show up in the next software update for the 27xx family.

Here's a post with more information: SP 2820 and BMW Nav III now support multiple map datums...
