I am new to this but wonder if someone can help with good experience of airhead service in Ireland please

Hello,

Folk in this section who know me, will attest to the fact that I'm no technical guru. I know which way a bike should point.

Unless you need a thorough professional service, a general oil & filters change, with spark plugs thrown in is relatively easy, that even I can do it. The only tricky bit in my book is checking valve clearances and I'm told that's not too difficult. (I have done it before but I've got to find my feeler gauges)

You can buy a service kit and the relevant oils from motobins.co.uk if you don't have an Irish supplier. You'll just need a note of fluid volumes for your bike and you're away! The added point to this, is getting down and dirty with your bike, you get to know it a bit better each time.

The Irish contingent on here seem a more than helpful bunch, that one of them will probably offer to take you through the process for the price of a few beers. :beerjug:

Good luck in getting it sorted! :thumby:

John Stanley in Wicklow is a good expert on these machines.
A few of us here in the Limerick area do most jobs on our own bikes, PM me if you want to chat about it.

I'd heard about John Stanley too, almost bought a bike off him at one point. Whereabouts in SE are you deise? There's bound to be an air header near you and if they're anything like the ones I know they'd be only too delighted to show you the ropes.

Just to caution ...
Definitely not recommend John Stanley . Gave him G/S to service and actually handed him Motorworks service kit. On collection he handed back air filter from kit saying change not needed. Twelve hundred miles later I discover the filter was superseded by new part number in 2012. Photo attached. The filter might even be the original as bike was unused for 9 years and has only done 13500 km . I also failed to get list of works done or receipt.
