Any recommendations for an independent in London/Herts?

Hi all

I have been the proud owner of a 2006 GS for three months now and after reading an interesting post in the newbie section title 'Bloody BMW attitude', which I must say brought a smile to my face, I also remembered something.

Being a newbie myself and never having owned or known anyone else with a BMW I would appreciate your recommendations for an independent garage in or around North London or Hertfordshire.

I ride all year round and have done almost three thousand, mostly motorway miles to work, since I bought the bike. In my excitement at finally getting a GS I overlooked the depth of tread on the tyres and now both could do with being replaced oh and the bike would probably benefit from a service too.

So if any of you learned gents or indeed ladies, know of anyone, that you would recommend, in said areas I would appreciate you letting me know.

Just make sure that you exercise your sense of humour when contacting him....for example, when he asks you what model your bike is, have a jolly jape with him and respond "I don't really know, but it's red".....he loves that sort of thing

Just a tip.....never, EVER tell him your brother is famous, 'cos he'll not only have 'had him', but he'll have also sat next to his manager, any royals that your brother has met or even thought about, plus the stars of any films your brother has ever seen, all in some pokey cafe in that there London town

I use a chap called Mark Holden in Bromley (0208 464 4400) and he's superb; been going to him for 4 years now and he does a superb job and doesn't charge daft money.

There a a few nice little cafes etc near his workshop, so you can pass the time away on your i pad making random purchases online etc.....
