Any suggestions for upgrading my brakes please?

Not reading the road ahead, and late heavy braking

Its the rider that needs changing, not the brakes
It's people like you that make me reluctant to post more often on this site. We have never met (and I really hope we never do) but you feel qualified to criticise my riding when I post a polite request asking for technical advice. Over 13,000 posts...maybe you should stop and think before you insult someone you have never met.

Don't ever reply to one of my posts again.

Just a couple of thoughts on this ,,,, I would have to say that I have never found the brakes “ wanting “ on any of my GS variants over the years .
If you have the skill set ,, as others have said strip out calipers and reseal it is amazing how much crud builds up in the seal seats and causes a significant part of the breaking effort to be used just to move the pistons when the seals are pushed out hard onto them . And the pins also friction up when they are dirty / sheen of corrosion .
I believe there are companies that offer this service if it’s not your thing .
Also - over the years I have found the EBC HH sintered pads to be very effective at improving braking effort without excessive disc wear .

Do no take this as a gratuitous dig at you but:

We (riders) are the problem/limit on the bike in 99% of the cases.

I'd look at my own riding (especially when we talk about road riding) before doing any heavy modification to the bike.
As suggested: clean the calipers, service the brakes, check everything is in working order. But I severely doubt the brakes (power of the system) of the GS are the issue here.
There's nothing wrong with the power, the brakes work, but the increase in lever pressure required to stop faster (so to speak) seems excessive. Maybe they have slowly degraded over time without me noticing.

And please, no more advice on how to ride a motorcycle.

Thanks boatman, that's exactly what I'm going to try.

I didnt see that as criticising, to get the most out of this site you need a thick skin a lot of the guys on here are (ex) Police bikers and give good advice even if it is a bit blunt at times
Also listen to Theoneondonly (Baldric) he is one of the best independents in the country
