I need to know where windows xp pro stores the emails.
anyone know the path? ive had a hard drive go wonky, i managed to get the vcards out with the email addys, but there was a couple of emails i wanted to save, anyone know ta, Paul.

Each user has a different location and you will have to show all files including hidden ones but look somewhere like this -

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{91EB79A3-25FF-4238-9B60-650A58F49AD0}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\

or search for "dbx" files

Which mail client (Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc) are you using?. Its the mail client that sorts out where to put messages, not Windows itself. The default setting is different for every version of Windows/Outlook Express I've used. For Windows Mail under Vista, the sequence Tools, Options, Advanced, Maintenance, Store Folder will tell you where your messagers are stored. For OE6 under WIN2K its Tools, Options, Maintenance, Store Folder. Hope this helps.
