Any tips for Brittany Ferries Plymouth to Santander?

I thought it was expensive to use roaming not their WIFI??

wifi on the boat is free for 90 mins per day, so you can have a free browse in the bar in the evening and another with breakfast. There are pay options for more wifi.

It is relatively expensive to use roaming using the marine cellphone connection, whether call, text or data.

Roaming in the EU is not expensive, especially if you have it included in your SIM package from virtual networks like Smarty or Lebara.

I download a few podcasts on BBC Sounds & Spotify

That's what I thought. I'm on Tesco mobile so once there I'll be fine.

Same here. Crossed from Portsmouth to Bilbao in 2019 and we got the cabin with the window, makes a decent difference and they don't cost that much more.
The other advantage is that the rooms are quieter than the inside cabins.

'Brewing up' in your room 😳 That will get you a pretty immediate interview with the Master-at-Arms and quite possibly banged up. Fire at sea is a major concern so heat/smoke detectors are everywhere.

explain a bit more about option #2, please
Go For the £15ish sit down breakfast in the restaurant rather than the cafe. Restaurant breakfast gives you unlimited cold food (fruit / yoghurt etc) , a cooked breakfast, and unlimited drinks refills

unless its an electric kettle, which should be OK. Gas is an absolute no-no and indeed if they catch you it would be a big problem on any ferry...

would love to know where you got one of those...they look perfect for travelling.....

Turn data roaming off on your phone or it will switch to the staggeringly expensive marine satellite signal.

If you must have Wi-Fi use the ships service, but it’s not good so if you want to download anything do it before you set off.

As others have said, pack a small bag with your ship gear in it that you can find easily and if you can leave space in a top box to leave your helmet and bike gear.

Food is now expensive on board, just fyi really as there’s nothing you can do about it.

When you pay for something on board you can do so in Euros or sterling. The BF exchange rate used to be quite good and free but this year was neither free nor a good rate a week ago so I paid everything in euro both ways. This was Roscoff/plymouth though but was Pont Aven boat.

There is. Bring your own, especially from Spain
A visit to a supermarket before boarding the ship & then have a picnic in the public area with easy access to pints and tea/coffee
Job done

At check in do NOT put your cabin key in the same pocket as your phone - its a long hot climb up to reception for a replacement …

my phone has never killed the card key, plus the cabins are mostly above reception on deck 6. There's also a lift directly from floors 7-9 to the reception desk.

yes, even when paying by card, specify Euros. They have contactless. I am assuming you have a proper card account that offers 0% transaction fees like the Halifax Clarity credit card.

Turn off roaming for the voyage, if you connect to the maritime network it can be very expensive, there was a guy last year I think it was who watched films via it and it cost him hundreds.
Accept you're offline.
And if it's an afternoon departure you can have a few beers, watch the music and magician etc then a decent kip, late breakfast and civilised departure.
