Never had a set of spoked wheels on a bike before, my (just purchased 2001 model) R1150GS has these, the spokes are in good condition (no rust) and the front wheel rim is good.

The wheels are silver alloy (or metal?)

The rear wheel rim is also good(ish) but has what seems like faded areas (like the stainless finish is rubbed away)

Anyone got any wheel refurb (at home) tips? Simple tricks?

Advice would be welcomed, I need the wheels looking good (its a strange fetish!!)

mmmmmm shiny wheel fetish :bounce1

i think we all suffer from that problem. I use an alloy wheel cleaner from tescos, its cheap at £2 for a squirty bottle but by buggery does it work. Cleaned up mine a treat but make sure you dont get it on the discs. Mine started corroding almost before my eyes! after 5 minutes there was a healthy layer of rust all over them!

To date its been the most effective wheel cleaner ive ever used. Much better than all the branded stuff... although muc off is also quite good.

I then use autosol on a really soft microfibre cloth, following by brasso and have arm pump a 15 year old spotty teenager would be proud of!

A lot of alloy wheel cleaners are acid based and as such quite aggressive, so is muc-off.
It'll shift the crud but if you leave it on too long it'll shift the coating too.
