I'm after a bit of advice, as I recently updated the mapping on my 660 using the one time update option. Everything seems to work fine, but when I look at the map settings I think the old mapping might still be on there, and ideally want the zumo to be as clutter free as possible.

Under settings / maps / map info I have the following 3 options, only the middle one is checked with a tick though:

CN Europe NT 2012.10 3D

CN Europe NT 2012.40
[1] City Navigator Europe NT 2012.4

CN Europe NT 2012.10
[1] ALL

I don't want to delete anything without knowing what I'm doing, can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Bumpkin seems very knowledgable on Satnavs and associated queries. I put his name up to help someone else and he didn't mind.

Maybe a PM to him just in case he fails to see this.

If he does mind blame me and apologise on my behalf. :D

Have a look through past threads in this section, I had same issue, there's a few about updating maps and one I think called super charging 660 which was usefull

Garmin Map Updates

I hope this helps as I also have lifetime updates for City Navigator Europe.
I down loaded the latest version a few weeks back for my Montana. It shows as version 2013.10

You only need to have the latest version installed and active on the unit, otherwise you are just wasting space. The same is true for your PC, you only need to have the latest map present, although it makes sense to keep the old version for a few weeks in case the update is wobbly- Good old Garmin!

The maps on your PC can be difficult to find, on windows here is where they live: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps

I hope that helps

It's the maps on the zumo that I think have been duplicated, but because it seems to be working ok I don't want to set about deleting stuff before I'm sure.

Like everything I'm sure its simple when you know how.

The one I've got selected doesn't seem to have a 3d option, and each map option has a second file name underneath the main one...:nenau

Frustrating I know as I've just entered the Garmin arena.

Since everything is 'above board' contact Garmin Support and ask their advice. They are very helpful and I'm sure they'll allay your fears as they did mine.

There is also a very good Garmin Support forum:
(though it can take ages to find a post relevant to your own problem)

Bumpkin will keep you right. Maybe he's away using his Garmin for a wee while.

Could give a few details as to what I did to load up new maps, which is to load the latest mapping onto an SD card and delete the gmmapsupp file that you put on your unit when you apdated the maps. But leaving the original mapping on the unit do not delete this, but MUCH better to ask Garmin first!!

After all you've paid your money for the Garmin product and that's why they have a Support line to help their paying customers!!

All the best
