Sometimes here, sometimes there...
If you're using AdvSpec riding gear regularly, what are you wearing, for what kind of riding and what do you think of it?

I've decided to change bikes for my upcoming Trans-Canada trip. A non-BMW bike means my OCD tendency says I can't wear my GS Rallye suit, so need some new kit.

Leader in the clubhouse is Klim Baja S4 but I do keep coming back to the AdvSpec stuff...

I think it looks really dull and would run the Klim gear. I’ve loads of their stuff and it’s top notch.

Yep I use the linesman jacket and trousers, the Singletrack waterproof (that’s also my hiking & dog walking waterproof). I also have a ‘Supershirt’ for hot days/offroad.

I don’t give a monkeys how it looks. But I do like the build quality, the sizing fits me really well, and I like supporting smaller businesses generally.

I use the linesman jacket, great build quality also looks good in my opinion. Decent armour too.

Linesman jacket for everyday use and I bought the blue padded midlayer off here recently. Can't remember what it's called but it's a well-made bit of kit, really warm for what it is tho' I've not used it in anger yet (packs down into it's own hood too, useful as a pillow when camping). I'd call the styling subtle rather than dull. In any event, certainly nothing as showy as a twatsuit... (yep, got one of those too)

I was idly wondering about AS kit too.

On MondoSahara the guys had AS oversuits for the really wet stages but there wasn’t much commentary on how well the kit performed.

Their website is down.
The message says they upgrading the site and get in touch via FB or Instagram.

Austin Vince is a big fan of AS kit (although I don't know if they sponsor him).

I’ve used AS kit for a long while. I used the Linesman for a 6000k on and off road trip around Australia, with their layering (Baltic jacket I think) and waterproofs (singletrack?) it coped with -4c to 30c. Very comfortable to wear and also looks good off the bike. I used it with Forcefield body armour, but it also has very good armour if you don’t want to wear it separately. When it wears out I’ll get another, and as my Forcefield armour is now knackered I’ll get a Supershirt from AS.

I’ve also got a another jacket for hot weather - maybe Mongolia? It’s fine but I would say the Marrakech or Baja would be better as they have a bit of stretch, but at a much different price point. Obvs. not waterproof, but see above. The Klim waterproofs are ridiculously expensive, the AS ones are much better value.

I also have some non-waterproof off road trousers, that leave enough room for knee braces and enduro boots. I pair these with Mosko Moto waterproof overtrousers. Quite happy with this set up, wouldn’t change it.

I’ve also had most of the Klim range over the years. I have a Klim induction jacket, a bit like the Marrakesh but for warmer climes, and less off-roady.

If you are looking around the Klim price point also look at Mosko Moto, easily as good as Klim and just as expensive!

And for road use, don’t discount the Rokker jeans, either waterproof or non. Just as protective as motorcycle trousers, comfortable and looks better at the coffee shop! I did 2500 km round Spain last year with Rokker trousers and the Linesman jacket,

Interested in AS trousers, Gravel pants are waterproof but maybe too warm, Mongolia pants look good, anyone used either?
Or is the Linesman model a good all round choice (with waterproof over trousers)?

I use linesman with waterproof overs when it’s wet, and base layers underneath when it’s cold. They’re like stretchy walking trousers, so I find them really comfy. Not cheap, but quality is as good as If expect for the price.

Chris Scott didn’t give them a great review I’ve just noticed, said the material is rubbery, thin and almost see through, sweaty when hot. Is that what you’ve found? I’d be surprised if they weren’t good all round

Never heard of him?

But that’s not my experience, I’ve done a fair few miles in mine, no-one’s said they could see my nuts? They are fairly thin in the right places - and so reasonably cool. Stretchy material like walking trousers.

Here it is

But they sound good to me

He’s got a lot to say about a pair of trousers!

I like them, they fit well over my Sidi Crossfires, and knee braces when I wear them.

I like the strap and buckle on the bottom of the leg. They fit me well, they’re comfy and protect the bits I want protecting.

I’ve not had a problem - they let plenty of air through, without having to undo any zips, unlike most kit.

I’ve had Klim, BMW, Rukka kit before, I much prefer this.
