Anybody using AdventureSpec riding kit?

Linesman trousers arrived, only tried them on but I like them, excellent fit and feel very comfy. I’ll play around with the armour, might finish up using my knee tubes with ghost armour in them.

Love my AS Supershirt. In Aus (up to 38 degrees) I just wore it with a base layer and a motocross top to keep it clean. So comfortable and unobtrusive compared to an armoured jacket.

Really good idea, the supershirt, beats riding round in a race shirt over armour.

I like the trousers so I’ve now bought a Linesman jacket, another nice bit of kit.

I have the original Linesman Jacket which I bought 6 years ago, plus the more luxury waterproof jacket. The original jacket didn't come with armour and I had a Knox Action Shirt which worked well with it.

I bought the 1st Gen Supershirt when A-S ran their crowd funder for it, which I'm really impressed with. I did try swapping the armour in and out of the supershirt and the Linesman jacket, but I could see that repeatedly doing this may stress the armour pockets, so I bought the later edition of the Linesman Jacket that comes with armour, so I have a jacket to suit all of my riding requirements.

Last summer, my missus kindly bought me some Linesman Trousers for my birthday. I think this may have been an incentive, as they're still a touch tight, but I'll be getting into them this summer.

Next on the list are the Gravel Trousers. I've had my Rukka trousers for 9 years now and they're starting to look a bit tired, and hopefully soon, they'll be a bit big. I'd like to think the Gravel Trousers would be a good replacement for the Rukkas, but I've not seen any up close to make that assessment.

I'm thoroughly impressed with the stuff they produce. I also use my jackets for walking and holidays etc. as it's light weight, breathable and where it's supposed to be, properly waterproof.

Oh, I also have a pair of their Alpine? Gloves. Which are great, and have recently been improved.

I brought my Linesman jacket and pants to Greece and am very happy with them, layer up accordingly and they work well, very comfortable.
I rode to Ireland in them with layers under and waterproof shells over the top and they worked as intended.
And I can zip off the sleeves, remove remaining armour and the jacket becomes a gilet in the evening, remove the armour from the trousers and they’re fine. Nice, well designed kit.

I have just had a pair of their Gravel Pants delivered.
Looking to replace both my old Rally suit and my Tourshell suit with something that does it all (a big ask)
I had been out looking at the latest BMW gear (which in my view has gone right down hill and right up in price) and these AS Gravel seem to be of good quality and reasonable price point in comparison to BMW, Klim etc but only time will tell.
Material is a bit stiff and crinkley as new.
Would no doubt be too hot in europe in summer.
Seems well thought out and aimed directly at touring, road, light trails, waterproof riding on your Adventure Steed
Fit and armour seems spot on with 36R
36 waist, 6' tall and 15 stone.

I did buy an RST suit last year but just never got on with it so that went
Jacket to be ordered next but not sure about which size to go for and its all mail order only with AS

AS Gravel jacket now also purchased.

Fit is spot on in Large (6’ tall & 44” chest, just under 15 stone)

Much lighter than expected but still feels substantial.
Very stiff material new.
I really like the plain functional no frills style and lack of fussiness.

Review to follow in due course after it’s had some proper use.

Because we are all only here once, and for such a short time - I have bought the Linesman pants too now becasue you can just never have enough motorcycle gear, or motorcycles !
So impressed with the AS gear so far, I thought 'why not'
They are just superb.
Everything that the old BMW gear used to be in my view - maybe even better.
Great material, weight, fit, comfort, armour

I wear this with the Marekesh Jacket from Klim, the zephyr windproof layer when needed and the Rukka Lahti mid layer when needed.

Did you buy the Gravel pants?
Tempted to get some

Yep, got them a fortnight ago.

Great quality, feel great on, but also feel quite purposeful. Winter riding you'll need to put something on underneath, like long-johns or similar.

Spent all day in them one day last week, really comfortable. Have been using them this week for commuting to work, all good.

Really pleased with them.

I also bought the braces which look simple but practical, but haven't needed to attach them as yet.

I’ve ordered a pair, they look good and their product video explaining the design process and materials etc makes a lot of sense. See how they fit.

First true test of the Gravel Jacket and Pants today - just heading into the Harz mountains and it’s been pissing down hard for the last 3 hours.
Taking refuge in the Yellow Mc Arches for a coffee and warm up.

Not overly impressed so far.
I’m well layered up but doesn’t seem to keep any warmth in at all.
It’s only 6 degrees - yes, 6 !
I am dry (I think!) - but everything in the outer pockets is soaked.
Wish I was wearing my old Tourshell suit.
That tells a story.

Will know more when I strip off at destination in another 3 hours !

Drop Adventure Spec an email and see what they say, be interested in the reply

Edit to add, they say you need to layer up as required so I guess that will be their answer. If it keeps you dry and works when it’s warmer then with enough layers it works when that cold? If comfy now without lots of layers then it’s too warm at 20 degrees?

Interesting report back. There was a card in the pocket of my trousers which said as they're breathable, the pockets may suffer from condensation.

I'm guessing as the warm moisture wicks through the main garment layer, it hits the outer pocket and condenses. Something that I've experienced in nearly all of my outdoor gear. I've always suffered with wet pockets with my Rukka gear too. If it looks like rain I put my stuff in plastic bags in the pockets.

Apart from the 'otter's pocket' issue, I'd be interested in the full report.

4 degrees over the top of the Harz and absolutley pissing it down.
🥶🥶🥶

The good news - bone dry underneath
👍

Thought I was getting wet/damp but it was just the cold.

The two napoleon type pockets into the jacket inside under the storm flaps are dry.
The jacket side hand pockets are soaking. (Zips totally done up)
The lenses cleaning cloth for my specs I could literally wring water out of it. That’s not condensation.
Trousers leg side pockets also wet inside.
To be fair, happens on most jackets I have ever had.

Maybe it was just the cold weather and wind but upper body was cold all day today, even with 3 layers on under the jacket.
Legs a bit cold with my merino leggings on.
The Gravel suit keeps you dry in serious rain but offers zero thermal properties at all.

Probably says all that in the sales spiel if I had read it.
🤣

Thanks for that. I think from what I’ve read they wanted it to be light weight, waterproof and suitable for layering and it sounds like they’ve achieved that, apart perhaps from the pockets. If it’s dry and tough I think I’ll be happy, that sounds like a pretty severe test you gave it.

I think that’s fair -
but also think I would have been better off in either my old Tourshell suit - or, layered up in my summer gear with the old bmw rainlock waterproofs thrown on.

Will put this Gravel suit away now on my return and try again with it in India next year. A lot more off road at lower speeds to be had there rain and shine where it might just come up trumps.

* side note - my BMW GS dry goretex gloves have yet again proved to be superb.
So pleased I bought two pairs years ago and they are still going strong.
10/10 on those puppies.
Same for my Sidi Adventure boots.
Money well fucking spent
👍

Gravel trousers arrived this morning, size is exactly as per the number, quality seems very good as does comfort. I wore them today on a wee trip to Lairg for a night, long johns under and they were fine at 10 degrees. Quite stiff material but that’s part of being new and being protective.
I like the features and they do have a reputation for being very fair with any issues.
Not complaining that I can’t comment on how waterproof they are just yet.
